My thoughts Caballero and the pitch clock.

He does it more egregiously and significantly more often than any other player. The point is not that he is the only player who does it.

He does it 100% of the time. It’s within the rules as written. They actually changed the rule so batters could do it.

This is exactly my point lol. Who said it was against the rules?

The umps, today.

Ah, thought you were talking ab people just calling it annoying.

Seems like they informed the Yankees before the game though and told them this would be called? If that’s true, it stands to reason he should probably follow it even if it’s not an official change yet. So they just ignored the people who make the rules?

@Jomboy_ They did not inform the Yankees before the game. But even if they did-who is “they” and they can just change the rules of MLB right before game time? No.

@Jomboy_ They is MLB, and yes they can.

Caballero is the only Ahole that I see that is always screwing with the clock.

almost every pitcher does it

Very well broken down. Why can't people understand this?

The difference is Caballero ain’t a good player. You get away with way more when you’re respected by your peers.

Players who can hit aren’t worried about playing games with the clock.

This is disingenuous homerism from you Jimmy. You and I both know Caballero looks at the pitcher, then looks away until 8 seconds. He engages, then disengages. He's not allowed to that, that's what he gets popped for. He's barely hanging on in The Show and looking for an edge.

Scherzer figured out how to mess with batters timing using the clock. Caballero is in his right to do the same.

I think a lot of people are missing the part in the written rule that accounts for batters being deliberately manipulating and deceiving with their timing. I believe this is the part of the rule that the umpires are using to go against Cabby.

I actually agree with this. It's annoying but it's completely within the rules.

Of course, list all the former Skankees as references 😂

These weren’t your thoughts at all actually. You’re just explaining what Caballero does lol

And pretty clearly stated my thoughts and opinion on it

Jimmy we know your gonna suck cabby you don’t have to post this we know your thoughts

Idk if I misheard but didn’t the hot mic catch the ump saying “they called us about it earlier today” or something like that?

The issue is that he acts like he is engaged and looking at pitcher, and then disengages for a split second right when clock flips to 8. The pitch clock rules don’t work if pitcher can’t tell if batter is or is not ready. The rules were clearly to try to prevent this exact thing.

@TalkinYanks Valid points, except doing it every pitch is tiresome. Use it sparingly, and it becomes more effective. Btw, same goes for pitch framing. Framing a ball 6” out of the zone is ridiculous, wait til it’s close.

Why is it always him? I don’t see this being a problem for anyone else. Quit being a Homer

Seems it’s more about how Caballero is doing it. If he was out of the box until 10 then did his routine, nobody would care. But he makes it obvious by just staring down for 5 seconds clearly ready. I think he should be allowed to do it, just saying why I think people hate it.

Didn't see, did they ever give an explanation for the violation at all? Don't understand given he was CLEARLY ready when he needed to be. Felt weird lol.

@TalkinYanks

Biggest difference is a pitcher is subject to a balk. Deception by a batter can draw a balk whereas the pitcher can't affect the batter in the same way. Worst case the batter isn't "ready". Cabby also throws a fit & delays the game for minutes at a time & that's not good product

@TalkinYanks i understand it’s gamesmanship and other teams do it… yada yada yada…. but the yankees never had to stoop to this level to have to win games. we just found ways to win freakin games like baseball players. these tactics come off as desperate. play the damn game!

Your argument is a bit of a false equivalency, because back when Jeter and Bernie played...there was no pitch clock> You are therefore comparing apples with oranges.

@TalkinYanks Exactly. And ignorant Yankee fans complaining will never understand this struggle. Jose is correct

Why don’t they get equal time?

Every other batter deals with it. So can he. He’s obnoxious with every single at bat. He’s too shitty of a player to pull this bs

@TalkinYanks This a tale as old as time, just a different flavor. Also, it’s one of those situations where, if he is on your team, you love it. If he is on the opposing team, you hate it. As has been the case for the last 100 years. It’s a big problem now because he wears pinstripes….

So you’re saying Yankees trying to cheat is nothing new

The rule is that you have to look up at the pitcher before 8 seconds, unless you're Jose Caballero, in which case you have to look up at the pitcher sooner than that but there is no guidance as to how much sooner than that.

😂

MLB is trying to speed the game up. Don’t confuse “gamesmanship”with entitlement. Cabellero is a little crybaby.

I'm sure most Seattle Mariner fans remember Caballero well.....he was notorious for messing with pitcher's.

Can't believe the flack Caballero is getting. He uses the same routine every time within the rules. If MLB crack down on this, we're going to have pitchers "icing" batters a lot more with 10-15 second holds and that's getting to be WAY more frustrating that what Jose does

Even then. The pitcher can hold the ball for 8 seconds and do it randomly. Throwing off the timing and comfort of batters. If pitchers can do it, so can batters
