Domestic Battery, which is whats alleged here, has $0 bond in Florida. Bond and conditions will be set by the judge at First Appearance which generally takes place the morning following the arrest. As for being rigged against men, it definitely seems that way. The way the domestic violence law works, much of the officers discretion is taken away. Plus, I’m not saying this is the case here, but if the officer decides not to make the arrest and the offender harms the victim after that officer leaves, he/she will likely be fired and possibly charged. That’s why you will almost always see an arrest on a domestic call no matter how trivial it may seem. Most officers aren’t will to bet their livelihood on someone they don’t know. It’s not like the old days when a cop showed up and both parties could be beat to a pulp and the cop sends one of them away for the night.
