@stoa1984 I think the regime forces had riverine protection boats and maybe even tankboats, why aren’t they using them? Did they run out of them already?

New video footage has emerged indicating that the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) and its allied People's Defence Force (PDF) successfully apprehended a total of 151 junta soldiers, 17 police officers, and 22 family members of the junta soldiers in Shwegu town, Kachin State, Myanmar. The destruction and sinking of several transport ferries by the KIA and PDF forced the junta security forces and their families to surrender, a clear indication of the shifting power dynamics in the region. In response, the junta regime has escalated its airstrike campaign, targeting the KIA and PDF in the Shwegu area. Video/KIA Soldier
