New Mexico is an American state. Its name doesn’t have to stay a souvenir of somebody else’s map. The land is ours. The laws are ours. The people who live there are Americans. Keeping “Mexico” in the title treats the state like a leftover instead of a piece of the country that already paid for it. If a name no longer fits the country that holds the ground, change the name. Call it New America. Or call it something else that honors our country. We name our own states. That’s not hostility, that’s ownership.

The waiter calmly explains: “We automatically add a 25% gratuity to all dinner checks.” Yes it’s his son but..does he do this to all customers? No large party. No warning beforehand. Just built-in tip. Now the debate starts. Some say — restaurants are struggling, servers deserve guaranteed pay, and this avoids stiffing. Others say — a tip is supposed to be optional. Once it’s mandatory, isn’t it just a fee? And shouldn’t customers clearly agree to it before ordering, not after the bill arrives? So what do you think: Should customers always have the chance to choose the tip amount… or is automatic gratuity fair in today’s restaurant world?

An ode to the 7 Wood… I ignored the hype for a long time. My male ego just didn’t let me give the 7 wood a try. With my hybrid struggling, I finally took the plunge a couple months ago. I can say with no hyperbole: It’s the best club ever. This is a tough stance and have to get the ball up fast. 195 yards out. Basically zero chance for me with an iron or hybrid. Just put it in the middle of that stance and swing. Boom. Rough, bunkers, fairway…just doesn’t matter. Somehow it always seems to go in the right direction. If you have fought the urge to ditch the 4 iron or hybrid, it’s time you try it. You won’t ever go back. 7 wood for life
