Lovely… but there is one night in SF…

Allan Holdsworth

Kenny Burrell:

John McLaughlin

Wes Montgomery in terms of tone. Django Reinhardt because Le Quintette du Hot Club de France is pretty much the only different non-USA Jazz school. It could be called the first Jazz Fusion band.

Django Reinhardt

Joe Pass (said with love, as Metheny is a life long fav)

It's not about better (or not as good). Who's playing speaks to you, and how/why? Ask the players...it's not a contest.

@HarryJo90511390 Django Reinhardt especially because after burning his hands and having to relearn to play with just two fingers

John Mclaughlin

He is amazing. Seeing The Pat Metheny Group was such a wonderful evening with Lyle Mays. ✨

Maybe not better, but still awesome!

George benson

Hard to compare Pat Metheny to Django - all these years that separate them from each other. During this time, the playing technique has advanced significantly , but....Django was really good

Pat Martino Grant Green Stanley Jordan

Frank Gambale

Pass, Montgomery, Jim Hall, Benson… for starters..

you don't have to wait long.... Frank Gambale.... formerly of Chick Corea's band...and total virtuoso for decades

Okay..! It sounds technically brilliant, but cold and practiced. The sounds of Paco de Lucia evoke a more heavenly feeling in me.

John McLaughlin

I'm not saying he's better, but John Abercrombie is my favorite.

Matteo Mancuso will give it run for the money;

Biréli Lagrène

You picked one of his best songs too, good job 👌

Sylvain Luc ✝️

Matteo Mancuso

Larry Coryell

Pat said John McLaughlin is worlds greatest guitarist so...

I have much of his fabulous work, his early keyboards collaborator, Lyle Mays, is from Wausaukee WI, not too far down the road from me.

Georges Benson, Bireli Lagrene, John Mc Laughlin, Al Di Meola, Kenny Burrel........l
John McLaughlin.

Shawn Lane is also a jazz guitarist. I'd like to nominate him for the competition.
