Nancy Guthrie I am so surprised that no one is talking about Katie Pavlich's interview with Director Patel on NewsNation. Yes, Director Patel double-downed on what he told Sean Hannity 🇺🇸 about the rift between the FBI and Pima County Sheriff's Department in the early stages of the case, but much more interesting was Director Patel's response that the FBI does not have jurisdiction. The FBI does have jurisdiction under the Lindbergh Law (18 USC 1201) due to the following: 1- Sub b says that after 24 hours, there is a presumption that the kidnapping crossed state lines squarely giving the FBI jurisdiction. 2-If the offender uses any means, facility, or instrumentality of interstate commerce to commit or further the crime" it falls within federal jurisdiction. Recall, the 6 ransom notes (2 sent to 3 media sources)? Those notes also give the FBI jurisdiction. The first note came in the day after the kidnapping. So what is the rub? 1- The FBI typically defers to the locals on such cases. Afterall, there is no quibble that Pima County has venue. 2-Keeping relationships solid between locals and the Bureau (although this relationshipis anything but solid.) 3-In this case, I don't think the FBI wants the lead or that the USA's wants to adjudicate Nancy’s case.
