Since 2023, Ujjain has been at the centre of a series of major infrastructure and urban development projects announced by the Madhya Pradesh government. An Indian Express investigation has found that during this period, members of Chief Minister Mohan Yadav’s family purchased 168 acres of land in and around the city. Much of this land is located in areas that have benefited from new road projects or changes allowing residential and commercial development.
