Instead of building an entire arc for the character (like with Kakashi and Sasuke), Kishimoto wanted to pull off this “redemption” in the laziest, most pathetic, and quickest way possible, just to try to “Narutify” him as much as possible before he died.

Obito's “light of hope” has always been Rin, not Minato. But the fact that his point was “refuted” so quickly and he didn’t respond at all (so as not to prolong the debate) shows that the author didn’t want to explore Obito’s narrative depth.

It’s as if, in that passage, Minato were trying to say, “Either you become Hokage or you marry the woman you love—you can’t have both,” even though Minato was married to the woman he loved and was still Hokage. That passage doesn’t make any sense.

Óbito mató a Kushina e indirectamente a Minato 🥲

As if Obito were still a child compared to Naruto, and generic phrases like “the power of bonds” and “there’s no shortcut to becoming Hokage” were enough to make him quickly give up on his Tsukuyomi plan.

So, the whole part between 0:06 and 0:55 doesn't make any sense at all. He asks Obito if he likes Rin, and Obito says yes—okay. But the response that follows immediately after that undermines the character's own logic and also reveals a clear hypocrisy in what he's saying.

Besides, it doesn't even make sense for that “conversation” between Minato and Obito to be a memory, because it never came up before. Especially with Obito saying, “Oh, being Hokage will mean I won't have time for women, right, Sensei?”—even though Hiruzen and Minato were married

If I were to construct a philosophical debate about Infinite Tsukuyomi between Obito (who’s smarter than Naruto) and Naruto, holy shit, I’d have a thousand ideas for making Naruto go through exactly what Pain put him through… destroying him with logic. Shutting him up.

In my honest opinion, Obito had incredibly rich narrative complexities to be explored—BEYOND REVENGE—that could have made for a wonderful storyline. But Kishimoto, pressed for time, wanted to bring about a quick, superficial, and rather silly transformation for him.

Bro, narratively speaking, IN MY OPINION ONLY, OK? Obito Uchiha’s “redemption”/“reflection” at the fucking height of the Ninja War WAS HORRIBLY executed/conceived. The way the author tried to handle his “redemption” was really bad.

From my analytical perspective, both in the scene where Obito “sees” Minato, Kakashi, and Rin, and in the conversation with Kakashi inside Kamui, as well as the subsequent conversation between Minato, Kakashi, and Obito, the level of reasoning was EXTREMELY LOW.

He was there more to try to get Naruto to join him and prove that despair can break anyone than to explore the philosophical narrative of the Tsukuyomi.
