The video is real footage from the International Space Station (ISS) in 2008, featuring private astronaut (space tourist) and magician Richard Garriott. It is not faked or staged as a NASA “gimmick” in the conspiratorial sense claimed by the post. Garriott first uses a standard Bicycle deck of cards to demonstrate the intermediate axis theorem (also called the tennis racket theorem or Dzhanibekov effect). In microgravity: Spinning the rectangular deck around its longest or shortest principal axis produces stable rotation. Spinning it around the intermediate axis causes it to tumble and periodically twist/flip. This is real, well-understood classical mechanics that is hard to observe clearly under Earth’s gravity but shows up dramatically in free fall. He then performs a magic trick often called the “pocket of gravity.” He releases or floats a hammer/tool (which behaves as expected and floats freely in microgravity) while making a single playing card appear to drop or be pulled “down” toward it, creating the illusion of localized gravity acting on the card alone. Other objects in the frame continue floating normally. This is deliberate sleight-of-hand entertainment (likely involving a hidden thread, precise release, or handling control), not actual gravity appearing.

Why would you put that stupid ass music and sound effects over the climax

LMAO Astronaut: you would expect everything to float but... *Cuts his audio to pretend the next thing is an accident without his explanation*

Richard Garriott himself has several times clarified that it was a magic trick, including once in a ‘Flat Earth Debate’ hosted by a radio station.

You can literally see him watching the monitor to make sure his hands are in the right spot for the cgi. He does it over and over again where he looks at the screen to see where he places his hands correctly for the green screen.

Nasa bothered to fake this, filmed it, didn’t bother to reshoot the “mistake” then broadcast it anyway. Sure.

Imagine getting fooled by the only time a NASA astronaut actually pulls a trick on the viewer in Microgravity. The card is on a string, genius. He pulls it DOWN out of frame to get idiots like you rilled up, and for a fair gag.

He's a magician, no shit he gonna make shit like this

It was a magic trick you idiot. That was the entire point. Magic tricks involve things doing what they typically shouldnt. It doesnt take much more than a flick to send shit up there. This has been discussed numerous time. Again the point of "magic" is for things to defy reality.

Some people should really learn about how the space station actually stays in orbit. Hint: it's still greatly affected by gravity. It's essentially in a constant state of free-fall with just enough forward momentum to keep it in orbit. They must apply thrust often to stay up.

He clearly said microgravity. If you don't know what that means we should just dump you into the xenospheric vacuum to see if your stupidity is contagious. We'll give you a microphone so you can live report on how re-entry isn't real too.

All this fucking money these idiots get, a day, and they can’t even keep up the hoax. These people really are stupid. They have destroyed the meaning of success. Just look at what the younger generations think is worth chasing these days. Idiocracy for money. You can have all the money in the world and still be a fucking clown, as so many have proven over the last hundred years and more.

when you learn nasa has a huge augmented reality studio you kinda wonder why !... and thats why people dont trust nasa footage etc...

Perhaps you should study magic tricks better. What you can’t see from this view is that he’s applying force from hidden finger to shoot the card down. You guys should really get your‘everything you see’ must be what your preconceived mind thinks you see fixed

A magician does a trick, tells you it's a trick, shows how it's a trick, and you're still tricked

Because they are in a very low orbit there’s still 90% gravity the weightlessness come from the orbit which basically means the ship is just falling constantly has it moves at a matching speed. Like weightlessness on the training plain.
