I have nothing but disgust for scammers, they operate with complete impunity, which isn’t right. But all you have to do is never respond to an email or phone call no matter what is said or promised and the problem is solved.👍

When a call or video looks and sounds like someone you trust, the useful pause is still the same. Hang up, then contact them on a number or channel you already know.
