This is emotional blackmail to make people believe that NATO makes life safer and better, when, at least in Europe, the consequence of massive defense spending is not only a greater threat of war, but also budget cuts in domestic affairs.

NATO hasn't served any purpose since the cold war with the USSR ended. Should be dissolved and the member nations can go back to taking care of their own security.
