“Under these conditions, six years after the creation of the aggressive NATO bloc, our country and other socialist states were forced to create their own defensive alliance” 70 years ago, the USSR, Albania, Bulgaria, Hungary, the GDR, Poland, Romania, and Czechoslovakia signed the Warsaw Pact. When the Soviet Union disappeared in 1991, the Warsaw pact did too. NATO, however, didn't dissappear, it expanded aggressively towards Russia.

The real answer is China is NOT, nor has ever been, communist. Communism is a moneyless, classless, and stateless society. The only reason China, and the Soviet Union for that matter, called itself communist was because it was a future ideal, not an established system. The cold war has literally stupefied people to the point they don't understand history or even definitions of words.🧐
