A Himalayan disaster reached India’s doorstep. 🌊 After catastrophic floods in Nepal sent a massive surge through the Trishuli and Narayani rivers, the Gandak River crossed into Bihar. At Valmikinagar, engineers opened all 36 gates of the 60-year-old Gandak Barrage, releasing nearly 1.5 lakh cusecs in a controlled manner to manage the sudden surge. While downstream villages still faced flooding and evacuations, this engineering marvel played a crucial role in managing the floodwaters. Can a 60-year-old barrage really stand between disaster and millions of lives? #BiharFlood #NepalFlood #GandakBarrage #FloodControl #Bihar [Gandak Barrage protecting Bihar from Nepal floods, how Gandak Barrage controls floodwaters in Bihar, Nepal flood impact on Bihar Gandak River, Gandak Barrage Valmikinagar flood control, Bihar flood protection from Nepal floodwaters]
