Before his abduction, Tabz stated that he had been receiving threats after exposing corruption scandals involving Winstone Katushabe. He also stated that a bounty had been placed on him. Now that Tabz has been abducted, these statements cannot simply be ignored. Good afternoon, friends. Yesterday evening, another innocent young Kenyan fell victim to the draconion tactics of rogue police officers. Shadrack Kiprono was violently abducted by unidentified persons believed to be intelligence officers in South B while getting into his vehicle. The abduction, which was captured on CCTV footage, shows 3 men in masks descend upon Shad and force him into a white Land Cruiser. Evidently, this was not an arrest as the police did not identify themselves or engage in any conversation prior to the arrest to inform him of his rights. We condemn the sustained unconstitutionalities and atrocities being perpetrated by the police, and demand the immediate release of Shad. Children come home. But many more still need to come home. We must clearly document where the children are, track the full chain of abduction and the cover-up of this crime, bring the children back, and help them find themselves again and return to normal life. None of this is easy. But it is good that our Bring Kids Back UA initiative is working. It is good that you are active – at the level of the European Commission, European institutions, international organizations, and the leadership of every country. Congratulations to Zimbabwean legal scholar Dr Justice Mavedzenge on his appointment by the President of Seychelles to lead an independent commission of inquiry in that country. Dr Mavedzenge recently debated the legality of Zimbabwe’s Constitutional Amendment No. 3 being passed without a referendum with Professor Jonathan Moyo, where he came out on top of the argument and helped many people understand how constitutional amendments work. He is a Professor of Law at the University of Cape Town. It is encouraging and inspiring to see compatriots being recognised for their intellectual abilities, and as Zimbabweans, we should celebrate such achievements.
