#WATCH | Delhi: On passport as a document, Advocate Virag Gupta says, "... I think this is a wrong statement, as it questions the credentials of the Indian passport. India already ranks 75th globally. As per the laws, only Indian citizens can obtain an Indian passport, while non‑citizens may do so only with the central government's endorsement. If someone wrongly obtains a passport on the basis of false documents, they can be prosecuted under Section 12 of the Passport Act. Therefore, any person holding an Indian passport should be treated as an Indian citizen, as it is a valid legal proof of citizenship. The Constitution provides for single citizenship, and states have no authority to decide it. Both inclusion in the voter list and possession of an Indian passport are valid documents."
