In a video uploaded by Allan Lumalang, residents are seen braving the floodwaters while cars remain on the unflooded section of the road. "Ngayon lang ulit sumampa yung tubig sa part ng E. Nairobi County, like many other progressive cities including Kigali, Rwanda has embraced modern technology to enhance cleanliness, such as street sweepers, refuse compactors, and other specialized equipment. However, what truly sets cities like Kigali apart is not just the machines they use, but the mindset of their citizens. In Rwanda, they have a national cleanup day Umuganda which is respected, honored, and attended by almost every citizen. People take it seriously because they understand that a clean environment is a shared responsibility. In contrast, here in Nairobi, when residents are called upon to participate in cleaning their own city, many respond with indifference, saying “it’s none of my business.” Rwandans do not dump garbage along road reserves like we often do. They do not blame the government for everything they understand they are the government. They value and protect their country. They do not vandalize public property like we did with our newly installed dustbins. And when they criticize, they do so constructively offering solutions and meaningful advice. My message to Nairobi residents is this: 1.Stop illegal dumping. Do not throw garbage from your cars or matatus along road reserves, where it ends up in rivers and clogs our drainage systems. 2.Stop handing over your household or business waste to street families or unauthorized individuals. This only worsens our garbage problem. 3.Instead, give your waste to licensed and authorized waste collectors who manage it responsibly from the source to final disposal. Alternatively, take your waste to the county-designated transfer points where it can be handled safely and properly. 4.Stop discharging raw sewage or any form of effluent into the environment. This pollutes our water sources and endangers public health. Environmental protection is not the government’s job alone it is a shared responsibility. If we all take ownership of our environment, love it, and reject the “I don’t care” culture, Nairobi can become one of the cleanest and most beautiful cities in the world. Let’s take pride in our city. Let’s be the change we want to see in Nairobi.

Today, we inspected ongoing Lagos Island Regeneration and Beautification projects, covering Oja Oba Underbridge, Idumota Underbridge, Aroloya Street, Adeniji Adele corridor, and key drainage collectors including Alfred Rewane, Bourdillon, MacPherson and Five Cowries Creek in Ikoyi. Our Lagos Island regeneration project will add real value to the city. It is designed to improve drainage capacity, reduce flood risks and improve the quality of life for residents. Since work commenced, the environmental condition has improved significantly. Many residents can now move around without the flooding that once defined the area. At Oja Oba Underbridge, we formalised a beautification proposal under a PPP CSR arrangement. Two to three parties have shown interest. They presented their designs and we are ensuring they align with approved state standards. We regularly meet with proponents to define boundaries, review drawings and make necessary adjustments. One of the proponents has also taken interest in Idumota Underbridge, which was cleared last year to protect public infrastructure. The plan includes sporting facilities such as a table tennis court, public toilets and green areas. We have asked for the final drawings for approval and continuous engagement with the Local Government Chairman. Obalende Underbridge has been cleared and taken over. At Ijora, a football pitch is being developed. Oja Oba and Idumota will also be transformed. We are making steady progress. There is a slight delay around Ojo Giwa Street where contractors had to dam certain sections to address adjoining areas. They are now filling with precast materials and adjusting the design because the road is narrow, ensuring it meets regeneration standards. These projects will be completed in phases. Some will be delivered within six months, others within 12 to 14 months. The important thing is that residents are already seeing results. I appeal for patience. There will be temporary inconvenience, but the outcome will justify the effort. We did not set out to inconvenience anyone, but progress requires sacrifice. On the issue of Monthly Environmental Sanitation, a definite position will be taken by the state government and announce by Mr Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu in a few weeks. However, residents should not wait for a declaration before cleaning their surroundings. Cleanliness must be a daily culture. Lagos does not have a waste problem. We have a discipline problem. Some markets along expressways have been caught dumping waste illegally despite having bins provided. Traders have been seen disposing waste on road medians. Along Badagry Expressway, LAWMA officials have worked tirelessly to clear waste that blocked rail tracks. Going forward, we will enforce environmental laws firmly. We remain committed to restoring Lagos Island and other parts of the state to order. A cleaner environment is not optional. And it seems like no one knows about it. It's actually a coordinated plan that they're about to roll out in states all over the country. This particular chemical is banned in Europe and highly toxic to humans and wildlife alike. I've even heard landscapers refer to diquat as the nuclear option. The way these scumbags are getting away with it is by saying it's used to kill an invasive plant species called hydrilla, which I'm sure it does, along with everything else in the water, and then us by circumstance. EXCERPTS FROM THE LAST LAMATA/MOFI/AFDB/STAKEHOLDERS MEETING: So, as the demolition and construction of the Green Line are about to start, I just thought to bring you some important information about the Green Line, so you know what to expect. For now, construction will start from the Iconic Ozumba Mbadiwe Station, down to the Sangotedo Station, which will be the first depot. (Phase IA) The government is doing this so that they can start operations as soon as possible, before the Current governor leaves office in 2027. The project would be ready by then so that people can start using it for commuting to work and other activities. Please take note that the section from Marina to Ozumba Mbadiwe will not be constructed yet because it crosses a water body. The piling and other engineering works involved will not be cheap. So, the government is trying to start with the cheaper section, which is the one that runs on land, so people can start using it as soon as possible. The idea is that the government can begin generating revenue from the operational section and eventually invest in the more expensive section. Lagos is about 70% water, and this is one of the challenges with building bridges and other major infrastructure across the city because of the additional cost involved. So, it is understandable. After this video, I’ll take you to the construction of the airport terminal Metro Station. Later, I’ll also shed more light on Lekki Deep Sea Port Phase 2, which is a $240 million expansion project about to commence. The government is seriously investing in major infrastructure, which is great and will keep the city’s economy bubbling. Very soon, they will also start the New Lekki Intl Airport and Badagry Seaport projects. I believe those are planned for next year, and the plans are already in place. However, I still want to appeal to the government to please look into the smaller things as well,things like our existing road networks, public spaces and the general environment. For sixty-three years, a quiet lie sat at the heart of our national story that Kenya had a centre and a margin, a place that mattered and a place that merely existed. The centre got the flags, the stadiums, the presidents and the cameras. The margin the old Northern Frontier District got soldiers, suspicion, and silence. Today, on the first of June 2026, that lie is being buried in the red soil of Wajir, and not a moment too soon. Madaraka Day means self-rule. Power belonging to the people. It is therefore the most fitting holiday imaginable to bring, for the very first time since independence, to a region that has spent six decades being ruled rather than included. President Uhuru Kenyatta began the practice of carrying our national days beyond Nairobi. President Ruto continued it, Embu, Kericho, Bungoma, Kwale, Homa Bay, Kitui and now, on the seventh occasion away from the capital, he has done the thing that no government before dared to do. He has brought the Republic to Wajir. Start with the history, because it demolishes the central myth the notion that Wajir is some remote, forgotten edge of the country. Wajir was founded in 1912 by the British colonial administration, which built a fortified outpost, a boma, to guard the strategically vital shallow wells and to assert control over the Northern Frontier District. That makes it one of the oldest towns in the entire country older than almost anywhere outside the coast. Nobody plants a garrison in a place that does not matter. Then, during the Second World War, this same town was invaded and occupied by the Italian army and became a point of bitter conflict for more than six months. African, Indian and European soldiers fought and bled here, side by side, as part of the global struggle that decided the fate of nations. Empires did not battle for half a year over an irrelevant patch of desert. They fought over Wajir because Wajir was worth fighting for. Soldiers of three continents understood its value generations ago. It is long past time the rest of us caught up. Let us be honest about what Wajir has carried. This is a county where, in February 1984, security forces of the state herded thousands of men onto an airstrip and left them to die in the sun. By some accounts close to five thousand sons of this land never walked home from Wagalla. For decades the country looked away so when a president flies in, when the national anthem is sung at a brand-new stadium on Wajir's own ground, understand what is actually happening: the same state that once arrived here with rifles is arriving with a flag, a parade, and a promise. That is not symbolism. That is repair. Consider what this county did not have within living memory. Not a single inch of tarmac. Men and women were born, lived full lives, and were buried having never once seen a tarmacked road, never turned a tap and watched clean water run. To this day Wajir, Mandera and Marsabit are not even wired into the national electricity grid. The same grid that lights Nairobi's billboards and Mombasa's hotels. You cannot lecture a region about patriotism while leaving it in the dark. Belonging is not a speech. Belonging is a road, a hospital, a light bulb, a reason for your children to stay. To the critics who say the stadium is misplaced. I hear them, and I reject them. A 10,000-seat stadium has risen here in record time, built by the Kenya Defence Forces, alongside an upgraded airport, new town roads, street lighting that has changed the very face of Wajir at night, and the launch of a fully equipped Level 5 hospital.

Demand Equal Treatment. Demand a Vote. Welcome to Caledon, Ont., the epicentre for a dangerous trucking problem that continues to spiral out of control. And it’s a problem that shows no signs of ebbing thanks to a complete lack of political will at every government level when it comes to merely enforcing the rules. Recently, Rebel News ventured out to the intersection of Hwy. 50 and Mayfield Road. The area was jammed with transport trucks. Illegal truck yards had shipping containers stacked six high. We met up with Franca Pisani and Amanda Corbett at this intersection; later we went on a not-so-scenic tour of the area. What we witnessed firsthand was shocking. Pisani and Corbett are members of the Caledon Community Road Safety Advocacy Group (CCRSAG). And when it comes to the trucking business in this neck of the woods, there is a lot to be concerned about. Indeed, the list of grievances includes: • Unsafe trucks and poorly trained truckers • A growing underground economy that is breeding lawlessness on the roads which includes drug running and human trafficking • Trucks that are illegally stored and not maintained properly • Immigration fraud involving temporary foreign workers • Rules being violated at every level – be it the rules of the road to the rules regarding environmental stewardship (i.e., the illegal dumping of used motor oil and transmission fluid into waterways) The descent into trucking lawlessness in such cities as Caledon, Vaughan and Brampton began about a decade ago. It’s just getting worse with the passage of time. So, what’s at the root of these problems? And more importantly, what are the authorities doing about this? Well, apparently nothing. And the stakes are high. Indeed, the reason why the Caledon Community Road Safety Advocacy Group came into existence was due to the tragic case of Adrianna Milena McCauley. This 23-year-old woman died in a four-vehicle collision on Sept. 10, 2024, on Coleraine Dr. at King St. W. Rajwinder Singh, a Punjabi asylum seeker, was behind the wheel of a transport truck that soared through a red light that had been illuminated for a full 10 seconds. Earlier this year, Singh was shockingly handed a mere 55-day jail sentence and a $1,000 fine. He’s already been released; he allegedly suffers from psychological damage, you see. (When oh when is this nation going to make deportation great again?) Rebel News also reached out to the Ontario Trucking Association. The OTA is well-aware of this festering problem. Recently, the OTA’s Marco Beghetto, VP, communications and New Media, wrote a scathing editorial regarding this disturbing and unsafe situation. Notes Beghetto: “The Ontario Trucking Association has been following the chaotic situation in Caledon – specifically along the border with Vaughan – for many years. I want to be clear: the industry stands with the community in demanding that commercial activity remain within the bounds of provincial and municipal law and, more importantly, the growing number of unscrupulous carriers who put untrained, unprepared, and careless drivers on the road with our residents, must be stopped. “We must distinguish between professional carriers and rogue operators. A truck in your community making a delivery is a sign of a healthy economy. But a fleet using a ‘ghost yard’ – a site illegally carved out of vacant agricultural land or literally in the backyards of residential subdivisions – is a violation of the law. “The OTA has been working closely with some local mayors to address these issues. Yet, the problem is expanding because rogue operators are bypassing the rules that law-abiding trucking companies follow. Meanwhile, politicians and enforcement agencies at every level point fingers and debate responsibilities over jurisdiction and enforcement authority. Meanwhile, as time passes without any progress, the problem worsens.” So, what’s really going on here when it comes to enforcing the rules? Indeed, how is it that the federal Liberals invoked the Emergencies Act in 2022 to violently takedown a peaceful protest in Ottawa yet ignore the Wild West of trucking elsewhere? After all, the Freedom Convoy demonstration was comprised mostly of law-abiding truckers who weren’t causing any harm to anyone. Yet the feds now turn a blind eye and a deaf ear to illegal trucking that is leading to unsafe situations. And it’s the same deal with the province of Ontario and the various municipalities – they don’t seem to care, either. In the final analysis, is this irresponsible approach all about identity politics? After all, the vast majority of those involved in the illegal trucking racket are Indian. So, is this really all about the powers-that-be not wanting to be painted as culturally insensitive? Is this also all about not wanting to upset a growing voting bloc? "We ate the last of the beans and went to Russia." Konstantinovka. Soldiers from the 2nd motorized rifle battalion of the 72nd motorized rifle brigade escort two civilians to the rear. An elderly woman in a summer sweater, holding a bottle of water, and her neighbor with two bags – all that remains of their previous lives. "Everything that didn't burn," she explains. Lidia Alekseevna Derkach. She lived her entire life in Konstantinovka and never left. Her parents came to Donetsk from Russia to work and live. She has relatives in the Orel region. They decided to spend the winter together: Lidia Alekseevna had a stove, and she invited her neighbor, Sasha, to her house, where her children used to live. They stayed together until drones attacked their house. "Fifteen Ukrainian drones attacked our house and burned it to the ground. We miraculously survived, hiding in the basement," the woman recounts. After that, they spent two months underground, not leaving. She describes the situation around them as if it were a normal day: the city was burning. Her neighbor, who ran to put out the fire at his house, was torn apart by a drone. Three women were standing under a tree – they all died. They were forced to leave the basement because "we ate the last of the beans. And we went on foot." An elderly woman in a summer sweater, holding a bottle of water, and her neighbor with two bags – all that remains of their previous lives. "Everything that didn't burn," she explains. Lidia Alekseevna Derkach. She lived her entire life in Konstantinovka and never left. Her parents came to Donetsk from Russia to work and live. She has relatives in the Orel region. They decided to spend the winter together: Lidia Alekseevna had a stove, and she invited her neighbor, Sasha, to her house, where her children used to live. They stayed together until drones attacked their house. "Fifteen Ukrainian drones attacked our house and burned it to the ground. We miraculously survived, hiding in the basement," the woman recounts. After that, they spent two months underground, not leaving. She describes the situation around them as if it were a normal day: the city was burning. Her neighbor, who ran to put out the fire at his house, was torn apart by a drone.
