And this folks, is why we can’t have nice things… the world might crumble under its own weight. or maybe it’s the fall of the west, and this is how it starts. people are mad that standard of living and that economic development has stagnated. The gaps between different socio economic groups have widened. AI and robotics will make it even worse. The great divide will start slow, and then come all at once. While the west is waking up to AI and automation now. The east has utilized AI and mass surveillance and a hyper connected and digital society for more than a decade. Watching this video is like watching grunt neanderthals combating homo sapiens. They come out strong at first but lose in the end. Imagine the riots when job after job after job vanish. Imagine the millions of truck drivers, cab drivers, delivery drivers etc all going out of jobs in the very foreseeable future. Sure this could be over reaching a tad, it’s just one Waymo getting trashed. However if you look for signal. This is just one event in a chain of many similar ones. It’s a cry for support. People are not happy, and trust in government is at an all time low. Maybe the sci-fi that paints the current best picture of a potential near term future, both realistically and geo politically is in my opinion ”The Creator”. The real issue with this clip, is that these folks are not liking the technological advancements as much as me and you.

Before you emigrate to Canada or anywhere else, there are things one must know. I saw the video of this emotionally distraught Nigerian lady in Canada, & it broke my heart she’s beside herself. If you have emotional & psychological needs, Canada may not really be the right place for you. WALK WITH ME! That communal living you enjoy in Nigeria, you may not find it in Canada. First, you must enjoy your quiet time. Having a “me time” is important, feeling whole & existing in your own space is twice important. I know you’re big on emotions; you are the touchy-feely type. But life is not a bed of roses. No one said it was going to be easy. Life in a new country is not always what we imagined for ourselves, we all want to live, not just exist. But we have to find a way to not sweat the small stuff. We have to try to fit in. What could be worst than Nigeria? Life’s not fair, we know that! It is not always the life we planned for ourselves. That too is true! But we roll up our sleeves, we show up for our kids, & those we left behind in Naija. In the end, emigrating to Canada or anywhere else, should be first & foremost - “to give your kids & their children, a fighting chance.” Abroad is best suited for married couples. You fill up your individual love & emotional tanks. For persons who cannot imagine themselves living alone in a foreign land, I will advise you get married in Nigeria, & emigrate to Canada as a unit. Kids have a head start when they are raised in a conducive or safer environment, they’ll achieve their potentials in life in a working society like Canada. But there is a catch, there are the stereotypes to worry about. You have racism, drugs, gun violence (especially here in America) to worry about. Choosing the right community is important. Then again, where you live is 100% dependent on your pocket. The safer the neighborhood, the pricey the rent. For some first-timers, living in a mobile home or a trailer is affordable. You have to develop a tough exterior, you have be ready to suck it all in, for the sake of your kids, & those you left behind. After all, they are the main reason we’re all here!! ISN’T IT? ❤️ A working Nigeria would be the best place to live on planet earth. You‘ll not only enjoy a conducive life, you get to enjoy a life of commune. Nigeria is a close-knit group of families, but japa is separating a whole families. However, home is always on our minds; we will never forget our home! The “sense of community” is one thing Africa & Asia have, the rest of the world will kill for it. At community is where Nigeria exist; that is where you find most Nigerians. Until Nigerians get it right, families will continue to be separated. Friends will lose connection, & loneliness will continue to rise. Nigeria is the “Best Kept Secret” on the planet: abundant human & material resources, arable land, no volcanic eruptions, no earthquakes, typhoons & tsunamis. NIGERIA IS A GOLD MINE. A working Nigeria will provide your financial, emotional, plus psychological needs. You won’t need to be on any online dating site to find love. This is why it’s important to vote for the right people. The Great Nigerian Exodus back home will ignite (once the righteous are in the saddle). Like the Israelites & the Chinese Diaspora, Diaspora Nigerians will sing on top of our longs, & the whole world will know that finally, NIGERIA IS HERE! 😭😭

On Thursday last week I drove with my daughters Kigali and they can’t stop talking about it. But here’s how it started: These ladies have been asking for a birthday 🎂 present since June and I kept pushing them forward. I don’t believe in the idea of buying gifts 🎁. So it happened that holiday coming to an end yet I had an urgent church meeting to attend in Kigali. Thursday evening, I go home and tell them pack ur bag 💼. We’re going somewhere. I didn’t tell them where. We set off at 2am and drove slowly. Reached Mbra in the morning nga beebase otulo Tuli: They had never traveled at night such long distances. Woke them up, freshened up, had breakfast 🥞, we hit the road again. (It’s not me who was driving. I can’t drive long distances) From Mbra to ntungamo, to Kabaale and to the Gatuna boarder. I told them pick ur passports line up for clearance. We’re entering another country.😊 RWANDA🇷🇼 They couldn’t believe it. They had never imagined that one can drive from a country to another just like that. After the clearing we entered Rwanda 🇷🇼 and we hired another driver who drove us to Kigali. The girls had never seen cars driving on the LEFT. It was crazy to them. They saw the hills. They saw rocks and all. We reached Kigali at about 5pm. And I told them, Happy Birthday 🎂. This is ur birthday present. The following day we went to visit that Kigali Eco Park and did some fun games. I went for my ministry meeting and made them meet some of my friends. Yesterday evening we set off to return. As we were driving back, I asked them to compare Kigali and Kampala and they started on it as I listened. When all was said : I told them when u go visiting in rich man’s home and u see it clean and awesome, it doesn’t make it urs. Your country is home. It will always be yours however dirty and disorganized it it is. God made u Ugandan for reason. Love ❤️ Uganda 🇺🇬 with its disorder until u grow to make it better. We’re now driving back home.

I told them pick ur passports line up for clearance. We’re entering another country.😊 RWANDA🇷🇼 They couldn’t believe it. They had never imagined that one can drive from a country to another just like that. After the clearing we entered Rwanda 🇷🇼 and we hired another driver who drove us to Kigali. The girls had never seen cars driving on the LEFT. It was crazy to them. They saw the hills. They saw rocks and all. We reached Kigali at about 5pm. And I told them, Happy Birthday 🎂. This is ur birthday present. The following day we went to visit that Kigali Eco Park and did some fun games. I went for my ministry meeting and made them meet some of my friends. Yesterday evening we set off to return. As we were driving back, I asked them to compare Kigali and Kampala and they started on it as I listened. When all was said : I told them when u go visiting in rich man’s home and u see it clean and awesome, it doesn’t make it urs. Your country is home. It will always be yours however dirty and disorganized it it is. God made u Ugandan for reason. Love ❤️ Uganda 🇺🇬 with its disorder until u grow to make it better. We’re now driving back home.

Sam Altman just told the world that OpenAI has no competitive moat and never will. And the smarter AI gets, the worse it becomes. In a recent interview with Stripe co-founder Patrick Collison, Sam laid out a vision for OpenAI that's genuinely scary at current valuations: He said he wants OpenAI to be a "forever low margin" business. He compared it to a utility company. Said he'd be happy as long as the business is "huge and growing fast" even if margins stay thin forever. Then he admitted something even worse for the bull case: He said AI switching costs are COLLAPSING. Bragged about how easy it was for users to leave a competitor's coding product and switch to Codex. Said this is actually a consequence of AI getting smarter because it gets easier to just tell an agent to migrate everything for you. Think about that... The moat is shrinking. The margins will stay low. And the smarter the models get, the EASIER it becomes for customers to leave. That is the CEO of one of the most valuable private companies on Earth telling you there is literally NO lock-in. Meanwhile he also casually mentioned that OpenAI is building "clearly the most expensive infrastructure project the world has ever undertaken." Bigger than anything in human history. Trillion-dollar scale data centers and energy deals stretching 20 years into the future. And when Patrick asked him what OpenAI's headcount would look like in 5 years, Sam said he'd love it to be just double what it is today. Double the headcount for the most expensive infrastructure project ever built. That means he's betting everything on AI agents doing the work that would normally require tens of thousands of engineers and operators. A trillion-dollar buildout managed by machines. Ever since I wired Claude Code to WhatsApp 3 weeks ago, I built a stupidly large infra around it. I mean, opus built it. No clue how the code even looks. The entire thing was vibe coded using my phone. I wanted to see how far I could push it without touching the computer. Everything via WhatsApp. Build what I need on the fly. So the resulting infrastructure will already be battle tested for software development. The entire thing was streamlined with nearly no manual interventions, everything was communicated via WhatsApp using a single script establishing this connection. If the script is down, I need to get home to start it again to resume the development. Claude was upgrading it, debugging it, restarting it while maintaining constant uptime so it could keep communicating with me. I stressed Claude about it, telling it that it will be “in the dark” and other words that deliberately sound scary about losing communications if the script dies. I also refused git and refused cloning the code, I wanted to see Claude adapting to work on a *LIVING* system. The way this whole thing works: Claude has its own dedicated phone number that I am paying for. A real WhatsApp account for it is installed on a real iPhone that is sitting on my desk. All is registered under my name, this is legit setup with no hacks and tricks. I’ve set up a WhatsApp “Community” and multiple different groups under it. Both me and Claude are the admins, so Claude could edit it on my behalf. Each group is a project I am working on and has its own isolated context. The Group description is a system prompt that gets auto-appended to the larger system prompt explaining this setup in general. When I send a message it’s an instant interrupt to Claude Code’s process, just like in the terminal. Voice notes are seamlessly transcribed with a local Whisper model. Images are used with multimodal reading in an isolated parallel session. Multiple groups running in parallel so I can work on all projects at the same time. I am connected as myself on it to all services because I actually use it in real life. Claude has unlimited internet access, just like humans who use actual browsers. It utilizes custom-made browser tools that I made to control any browser session it wants. Depending on the situation, it can either connect to my existing session or create one for its own. (You can tell it ‘look at my browser for a sec’ then talk about the current page you are on and it just works, pretty cool) My custom browser tools are not perfect (not by a long shot) but I managed to make them work well to the point they are somewhat reliable. This gives Claude full access to my real creds and all the services I actually use. I’m productive AS HELL with this. It really feels like a personal assistant. I ask it to read my emails and msgs, check x .com for news, research arxiv papers, write code, run experiments for me, investigate and reverse engineer github repos, even use my credit card and order things. [I try not to do this one a lot lol so far no disasters]. All from my phone. Super convenient. This is not a product or an open source project (maybe soon of it will make sense). This is just an ugly script I hacked the entire thing is ~600 lines. (ok maybe i did look at the code, but i swear i didn’t edit!) You can also vibe code this from scratch pretty fast and it will probably even end up better. This is just a cool thing so I’m sharing. It is a real speed booster for many things I do on daily basis, mostly boring things. Forcing my routine into some new “agent platform” just didn’t feel right for me. Ever since I wired Claude Code to WhatsApp 3 weeks ago, I built a stupidly large infra around it. I mean, opus built it. No clue how the code even looks. The entire thing was vibe coded using my phone. I wanted to see how far I could push it without touching the computer. Everything via WhatsApp. Build what I need on the fly. So the resulting infrastructure will already be battle tested for software development. The entire thing was streamlined with nearly no manual interventions, everything was communicated via WhatsApp using a single script establishing this connection. If the script is down, I need to get home to start it again to resume the development. Claude was upgrading it, debugging it, restarting it while maintaining constant uptime so it could keep communicating with me. I stressed Claude about it, telling it that it will be “in the dark” and other words that deliberately sound scary about losing communications if the script dies. I also refused git and refused cloning the code, I wanted to see Claude adapting to work on a *LIVING* system. The way this whole thing works: Claude has its own dedicated phone number that I am paying for. A real WhatsApp account for it is installed on a real iPhone that is sitting on my desk. All is registered under my name, this is legit setup with no hacks and tricks. I’ve set up a WhatsApp “Community” and multiple different groups under it. Both me and Claude are the admins, so Claude could edit it on my behalf. Each group is a project I am working on and has its own isolated context. The Group description is a system prompt that gets auto-appended to the larger system prompt explaining this setup in general. When I send a message it’s an instant interrupt to Claude Code’s process, just like in the terminal. Voice notes are seamlessly transcribed with a local Whisper model. Images are used with multimodal reading in an isolated parallel session. Multiple groups running in parallel so I can work on all projects at the same time. A little look behind the scenes: Many of you asked how I handle switching from SwiftData & CloudKit to Firebase and a different way of sharing entries with your friends. Previously, there was no need to create an account and the app just used the user's iCloud ID in the background to "sign up". Why did I do this? SwiftData is really nice to use but after working with it for over a year now, it feels still quite unstable, buggy and errors are super hard to track. Same goes for CloudKit and the CloudKit sharing that I implemented. For a growing app, in my opinion, it's just not feasible to use because errors happen regularly, you don't really know if the data is stored (and shared) correctly and the documentation on CK is just bad. I have big plans for this app (reacting to your friends' entries, Apple Health integration, tagging multiple friends in entries etc.) and all of it is now much simpler - and faster to build. The Migration part When an existing user starts the app, a little migration sheet with a couple of steps opens which can't be dismissed. The goal is that the user maintains all entries and can use the app like before :) Steps: 1) Create an Account using Apple Sign In and Firebase Auth 2) Migrate your user profile (profile picture etc.) and all your friends from SwiftData to Firestore. Here I basically iterate over all the data that is there, run a custom conversion for all the fields (some things need to be stored differently) and save them. Profile Images are now saved in Firebase Storage 3) Migrate all entries to Firestore the same way. Images and Voice Notes are now saved in Firebase Storage (that might take a bit of time, video is sped up) 4) After that, migration is basically done and the user can use the app like before. In the settings, the user can now log out or delete the account, things that weren't possible before. If for any reason the migration has to be done again, this can be triggered from the settings as well. How do I decide if a user needs to migrate? Previously, I saved the user's profile in SwiftData under a specific key (simplified). If the app finds something under this key, user is prompted for a migration. New users don't have to run through the migration. They simply start fresh with the Apple Sign in in the onboarding like seen in the referenced post. How does sharing entries now work? For sharing, I create deeplinks using branch . io now. These links basically work like every other Invite Link you've received or created. The friend opens the link, can accept your invitation and now both of you are connected as buddies. Previously using CloudKit Sharing, this process took two steps - each user had to share a link to give access to their entries. The process now is much simpler and better understand for the user. Developing the migration Tbh I thought this would be way quicker. In the end it was > 100 commits since I had to basically change every screen in the app. Working with SwiftData is quite different to how things work with Firebase (and most other frameworks), so every interaction where data was involved had to be reworked. Now the app runs on a combination of Firestore, Cloud Functions and Firebase Storage. In terms of memory, the app feels notably faster and only needs around 1/4 of the memory bandwidth it needed before. Let's see if it will be worth it! All in all super happy with the new flexibility for the app and not being limited by the technology anymore 👀

The proposed indefinite stay-away by Zimbabwe’s war veterans’ leader Blessed “Bombshell” Geza has failed to take off. Zimbabweans, particularly in Bulawayo and Harare and other small towns, chose to go to work today. I see on social media that some citizens in the diaspora are angry with fellow compatriots back home for going to work, but we should remember that Zimbabwe has 95% unemployment, so if people do not go out to hustle, they will starve, so goes the argument. The idea that people would get food from retailers or wholesalers was Alice in Wonderland stuff, it was never going to work or happen in a country where most businesses are owned by the corrupt cabal that the action intended to remove or loosen its grip on power. Secondly, Zimbabweans want to be liberated from corrupt rule by a particular type of political group and politician, so without the traditional opposition throwing its weight behind Geza's call, his efforts were always going to be in vain even though they are noble and progressive. The failure of this stay-away ends any immediate hope that citizens will participate in any liberation efforts unless mobilised by the traditional opposition, which does not exist, or by the military. I will be blunt. Short of a military intervention to stop Emmerson Mnangagwa’s corrupt rule, he will now get everything he wants, including term extensions. He is relentless. Zimbabweans will now be stuck with Mnangagwa until the day he dies and possibly will have to accept that his kids will rule them too with the assistance of his crooked cronies and clansmen. Zimbabweans should forget about the 2028 election and as a local doctor mentioned on social media, begin working through the five stages of grief: Denial, Anger, Bargaining, Depression, and Acceptance. It is pointless putting your hopes in a process that you know too well will be rigged. For him to fail to achieve what he wants, Mnangagwa would have to make a catastrophic mistake, like killing loads of people which will attract international scrutiny or firing his Vice President, General Constantino Chiwenga which might finally trigger a decisive response. There is now nobody with the capacity to stop him, short of a military intervention or death. Geza has tried, but there is no tangible citizen support that was forthcoming. Geza managed to force Mnangagwa’s team to stop chanting the 2030 slogan and pushed them into another plan of bribing MPs with illegally parcelled land. But after today, the dictator knows that Geza is now all alone, unless the military intervenes, which, as I have said before, is now looking highly unlikely unless they are provoked by the continued conspicuous consumption of looted public funds. So, Zimbabweans must now accept the reality that their failure to sacrifice for their liberation by simply staying at home will mean more unemployment, more looting of public funds, more dilapidated hospitals and public infrastructure, and more economic pain all around. Those are the grim political and socio-economic realities of Zimbabwe going forward, nothing less, nothing more. Journalists will continue writing about corruption scandals, but only for historical records and as part of our job, and for many readers, it would be for entertainment value sadly. Some will just switch to issues that have positive mental health outcomes. If you are young, have a passport, and have somewhere to go, my advice is to leave, otherwise, you will just become another tragic statistic of poverty, unemployment, and possibly death in a derelict hospital. Ordinarily, Africans do not care about who is in power if they have the basic necessities of life. But sadly, in Zimbabwe, those necessities will remain out of reach for as long as Mnangagwa and his corrupt cabal are in power. As for the opposition, it is dead. There will be no pushback for reasons you all know. You will remember that last year in May, I mentioned that three key countries to Zimbabwe's politics privately mentioned through their diplomats that, as far as they were concerned, 2028 was gone, and they were now looking at perhaps 2033 or even beyond to envisage any possibility of a change of government. But as long as Zimbabweans remain fixated on the main actor syndrome and not an opposition movement, they must also accept being stuck in the current political ditch for a long time to come. What does this mean? It means more looting. For the diaspora, it means continuing to send money back home for the foreseeable future. The tragedy is that Zimbabwean citizens continue to look for a hero figure rather than building a durable, collective movement that outlasts individual egos. Until that changes, power will remain concentrated in the hands of whoever seizes the moment, no matter how corrupt or undemocratic they are like Mnangagwa. For foreign diplomats, it simply means accepting that they now must work with the government of the day no matter how corrupt it is, with no hope of any change unless there is a dramatic intervention that puts an end to the current political rot. For General Constantino Chiwenga, it means kissing goodbye to his dream of becoming president. He must now tighten his security and pray that Mnangagwa does not make the un-strategic mistake of firing him because he might not be able to fight back. If he still has an appetite for this job, he has to fight for it by coming out of the shadows, otherwise he will meet the same fate that destroyed Joice Mujuru’s career. Without her husband, she became a nobody, and without the military, Chiwenga will be just another brick in the wall. For 74-year-old war veterans’ leader, former intelligence officer, and former Member of Parliament Blessed “Bombshell” Geza, keep your head up high old man. You did what you could, and history will be kind to you for trying, at great personal cost. Your beautiful home in Sanyati was burnt, your wife harassed, and now you are living in hiding. One would have to be a fool of monumental proportions not to acknowledge your efforts and say thank you for trying. You have contributed to people’s consciousness about how bad corruption has become, and hopefully you will live to see the change that Zimbabwe so desperately needs. Every struggle needs leadership; people cannot lead themselves. The idea that the Arab Spring was leaderless is rooted in ignorance and a lack of understanding of what happened. Without leaders to provide direction and inspiration, citizens cannot move forward on their own. Citizens were given direction and inspiration by Geza, but quite evidently, they felt it was not enough to compel them to make sacrifices, such as simply staying away from work and enduring a little hardship for the greater good and a better future. The dysfunctionality of national leadership in Zimbabwe has been fuelled by money changing hands, shameless ethnic alignments, corruption, and the absence of a shared national vision and values. Put simply, Zimbabweans are not united against the common enemy, corrupt rule. The oversized egos that prioritise individualism over a collective agenda are self-evident, and they are among the key ingredients of today’s failed politics. Sadly, it is the ordinary people and the lumpen who cheer that individualism that will continue to suffer. As Dr Solomon Guramatunhu has always said in my favourite saying of his, politicians are a mirror of who we are as a society. Every society has a leadership it deserves. When the society fundamentally changes, it will change its leadership too. When citizens hero-worship politicians regardless of the mistakes they make, it means such a people deserve those leaders. When citizens demand more, the leaders will also change. For now, Zimbabweans are stuck with Mnangagwa and an elusive opposition that only exists in name and not indeed. I conclude by saying that only something very dramatic will change Zimbabwe’s state of affairs. It could be a military intervention that removes the current corrupt political leadership of Mnangagwa, but ultimately it will also serve the interests of the elites if the citizens are just by-standers, or a dramatic fall from grace for the corrupt if a few of them are arrested beyond the president’s control, leading to the public shedding its fear. At this moment, any change will do, because the country was removed from the gutter in 2017 into the sewer. The question is who has the capacity to bring the required change? Only time will tell.

There is now nobody with the capacity to stop him, short of a military intervention or death. Geza has tried, but there is no tangible citizen support that was forthcoming. Geza managed to force Mnangagwa’s team to stop chanting the 2030 slogan and pushed them into another plan of bribing MPs with illegally parcelled land. But after today, the dictator knows that Geza is now all alone, unless the military intervenes, which, as I have said before, is now looking highly unlikely unless they are provoked by the continued conspicuous consumption of looted public funds. So, Zimbabweans must now accept the reality that their failure to sacrifice for their liberation by simply staying at home will mean more unemployment, more looting of public funds, more dilapidated hospitals and public infrastructure, and more economic pain all around. Those are the grim political and socio-economic realities of Zimbabwe going forward, nothing less, nothing more. Journalists will continue writing about corruption scandals, but only for historical records and as part of our job, and for many readers, it would be for entertainment value sadly. Some will just switch to issues that have positive mental health outcomes. If you are young, have a passport, and have somewhere to go, my advice is to leave, otherwise, you will just become another tragic statistic of poverty, unemployment, and possibly death in a derelict hospital. Ordinarily, Africans do not care about who is in power if they have the basic necessities of life. But sadly, in Zimbabwe, those necessities will remain out of reach for as long as Mnangagwa and his corrupt cabal are in power. As for the opposition, it is dead. There will be no pushback for reasons you all know. You will remember that last year in May, I mentioned that three key countries to Zimbabwe's politics privately mentioned through their diplomats that, as far as they were concerned, 2028 was gone, and they were now looking at perhaps 2033 or even beyond to envisage any possibility of a change of government. But as long as Zimbabweans remain fixated on the main actor syndrome and not an opposition movement, they must also accept being stuck in the current political ditch for a long time to come. What does this mean? It means more looting. For the diaspora, it means continuing to send money back home for the foreseeable future. The tragedy is that Zimbabwean citizens continue to look for a hero figure rather than building a durable, collective movement that outlasts individual egos. Until that changes, power will remain concentrated in the hands of whoever seizes the moment, no matter how corrupt or undemocratic they are like Mnangagwa. For foreign diplomats, it simply means accepting that they now must work with the government of the day no matter how corrupt it is, with no hope of any change unless there is a dramatic intervention that puts an end to the current political rot. For General Constantino Chiwenga, it means kissing goodbye to his dream of becoming president. He must now tighten his security and pray that Mnangagwa does not make the un-strategic mistake of firing him because he might not be able to fight back. If he still has an appetite for this job, he has to fight for it by coming out of the shadows, otherwise he will meet the same fate that destroyed Joice Mujuru’s career. Without her husband, she became a nobody, and without the military, Chiwenga will be just another brick in the wall. For 74-year-old war veterans’ leader, former intelligence officer, and former Member of Parliament Blessed “Bombshell” Geza, keep your head up high old man. You did what you could, and history will be kind to you for trying, at great personal cost. Your beautiful home in Sanyati was burnt, your wife harassed, and now you are living in hiding. One would have to be a fool of monumental proportions not to acknowledge your efforts and say thank you for trying. You have contributed to people’s consciousness about how bad corruption has become, and hopefully you will live to see the change that Zimbabwe so desperately needs. Every struggle needs leadership; people cannot lead themselves. The idea that the Arab Spring was leaderless is rooted in ignorance and a lack of understanding of what happened. Without leaders to provide direction and inspiration, citizens cannot move forward on their own. Citizens were given direction and inspiration by Geza, but quite evidently, they felt it was not enough to compel them to make sacrifices, such as simply staying away from work and enduring a little hardship for the greater good and a better future. The dysfunctionality of national leadership in Zimbabwe has been fuelled by money changing hands, shameless ethnic alignments, corruption, and the absence of a shared national vision and values. Put simply, Zimbabweans are not united against the common enemy, corrupt rule. The oversized egos that prioritise individualism over a collective agenda are self-evident, and they are among the key ingredients of today’s failed politics. Sadly, it is the ordinary people and the lumpen who cheer that individualism that will continue to suffer. As Dr Solomon Guramatunhu has always said in my favourite saying of his, politicians are a mirror of who we are as a society. Every society has a leadership it deserves. When the society fundamentally changes, it will change its leadership too. When citizens hero-worship politicians regardless of the mistakes they make, it means such a people deserve those leaders. When citizens demand more, the leaders will also change. For now, Zimbabweans are stuck with Mnangagwa and an elusive opposition that only exists in name and not indeed. I conclude by saying that only something very dramatic will change Zimbabwe’s state of affairs. It could be a military intervention that removes the current corrupt political leadership of Mnangagwa, but ultimately it will also serve the interests of the elites if the citizens are just by-standers, or a dramatic fall from grace for the corrupt if a few of them are arrested beyond the president’s control, leading to the public shedding its fear. At this moment, any change will do, because the country was removed from the gutter in 2017 into the sewer. The question is who has the capacity to bring the required change? Only time will tell.
