Step one: Fill everything. Tub, pots, buckets, bottles. You have maybe 45 minutes of water pressure left. That's the cleanest water you'll see for a while. Step two: Confirm the scope. Your house, your block, or your whole region? Battery radio or car radio tells you what you're dealing with. Starlink Mini gives you full details if you have it. Step three: Send one text to family with your status. Then put the phone in low power mode. Cell towers may not last long. Step four: Fridge and freezer stay shut. Snap a photo of both interiors so you don't have to guess. Eat in order: fridge first, freezer second, pantry last. Step five: Stay out of stores. Whatever's in your pantry is the plan. If this is a big event, everyone else is about to panic. Avoid crowds. Step six: Shrink your living space. One small room, blankets over windows and doorways. Critical in winter, similar approach for extreme heat. Step seven: Combustion stays outside. Generators, grills, camp stoves. Carbon monoxide kills more people in blackouts than anything else. This one is life or death. Step eight: Run dark and quiet. Don't be the brightest, loudest house on the street. That makes you the most interesting house. Generator during the day, blackout curtains at night. Step nine: Get comms up. Cell towers may fail within a day or two. Battery radio for info in, GMRS for local family communication out. Step ten: In a big blackout, nobody is coming to help you. Plan accordingly. A few things worth knowing: Blackouts historically last hours to a few days, but the 2003 Northeast blackout affected 55 million people and the 2021 Texas grid failure killed over 200 people. Big events do happen. And likely will happen with more frequency. A whole house generator is great, but a small portable generator with 3 to 5 gallons of stabilized fuel plus a portable power station covers most scenarios and doesn't announce itself to the whole neighborhood. Water heaters hold 40 to 80 gallons of usable water. Learn how to drain yours from the bottom valve. That's a free reservoir most people forget. Practice this before you need it. A weekend without power at home tells you exactly where your gaps are.

Thermodynamic computing is here There is a new computing paradigm emerging from the noise, and its arrival may be as significant as the dawn of deep learning or the advent of cloud virtualization. A new company, Extropic, has just launched its first thermodynamic computer, a device they call a TSU, or Thermal Sampling Unit. While the web is already filling with deep technical dives, what’s more important for most of us is building a clear intuition for what this technology is, how it’s fundamentally different from anything that’s come before, and why it’s generating so much excitement. This isn’t just another chip; it’s a new way to think about computation itself. Seeing is Believing: Solving Puzzles in One Shot To understand what a TSU does, let’s look at two classic, notoriously difficult computer science problems: Sudoku and the Eight Queens problem. When you or I solve a Sudoku, we use a process of sequential logic, guess-and-check, and backtracking. We make an assumption, follow its logical conclusion, and if we hit a dead end, we erase and try again. A classical computer does the same, just much faster. A TSU, however, approaches this in a completely different way. Using a TSU simulator, one can “program” the problem by first clamping the known values—the clues already on the board. Then, you program in the constraints: no duplicate numbers in any row, column, or 3x3 square. With the problem thus defined, the TSU doesn’t “search” for a solution; it anneals one. In a single computational step, the solution simply emerges, backfilling all the empty squares correctly. The same principle applies to the Eight Queens problem, a challenge to place eight queens on a chessboard so that none can attack any other. This is a complex combinatorial problem with 92 distinct solutions. A classical computer would have to iteratively search for these. A TSU, by contrast, can be programmed with the constraints (the “anti-affinity” between queens on the same row, column, or diagonal) and then set to sample the “solution space.” In this context, a valid solution is one with a “problem energy” of zero. The TSU’s physical nature allows it to naturally find these zero-energy states. A simulation of this process shows the TSU discovering all 92 unique solutions, demonstrating its ability to not just find an answer, but to explore the entire landscape of all correct answers. This is a fundamentally new approach, one that bypasses the brute-force, iterative methods we’ve relied on for decades. The Physics of Computation: Using Noise, Not Fighting It This new power comes from a radical design philosophy. For the last 70 years, computing has been about one thing: order. We build chips that are deterministic, logical, and precise. The great enemy has always been noise, heat, and randomness. We spend billions on cooling and error correction to eliminate these very things. Quantum computing, in many ways, is the ultimate expression of this, requiring temperatures near absolute zero to eliminate all thermal noise and achieve quantum coherence. Thermodynamic computing is the polar opposite. It doesn’t fight the noise; it uses it. The TSU is built on the understanding that the natural, stochastic noise from “leaky” transistors—the very randomness we’ve tried to engineer out of existence—is itself a powerful computational resource. Think of it this way: a GPU, which is central to today’s AI, has to simulate noise. When a generative AI model creates a new image or sentence, it’s using complex algorithms to fake randomness. The TSU doesn’t need to fake it; it harnesses the actual physical randomness of thermodynamics. It is a piece of hardware that directly computes with probability. This makes it a hybrid, sitting somewhere between a purely analog computer (which might use light or sound waves to compute) and a digital GPU. It’s a physical device that leverages the laws of physics itself to find solutions, rather than just using logic gates to simulate them. From a Lost Hiker to a Million Bouncy Balls Perhaps the best way to build intuition is with a metaphor. Imagine that solving a complex optimization problem is like trying to find the lowest point of altitude in a 100-square-mile mountainous landscape. Classical computing, using an algorithm like gradient descent, is like being a single hiker dropped into this landscape at night. You have no map or satellite view. All you have is an altimeter and the sensation of the slope under your feet. You can only take one step at a time, always walking downhill, hoping you don’t get stuck in a small local valley when the true, lowest canyon is miles away. Thermodynamic computing is a completely different approach. It’s like having a million bouncy balls and a helicopter. You drop all million balls simultaneously across the entire 100-square-mile landscape. Then, you “turn on an earthquake,” shaking the entire system. The balls bounce and jostle, but as the shaking (the “annealing”) subsides, where do they all end up? They naturally settle into the lowest points. The balls that collect in the deepest valley represent the optimal solution. The TSU is, in essence, a physical device for dropping those million balls at once and letting the laws of thermodynamics find the lowest “energy” state for you, all at the same time. Beyond Puzzles: The Real-World Impact This is far more than just a clever way to solve brain teasers. This ability to instantly find the lowest energy state for a complex, constrained system has staggering real-world applications. One of the most immediate is protein folding. Companies like Google’s DeepMind have made incredible progress with AI like AlphaFold, which predicts protein structures. But this is still a predictive model trained on existing data. A TSU could potentially solve the folding problem directly, treating the protein as a system of atomic affinities and repulsions and finding its most stable, lowest-energy configuration almost instantaneously. This could revolutionize drug discovery and materials science. An even more profound possibility lies in nuclear fusion. One of the greatest engineering challenges in history is controlling the superheated plasma within a tokamak reactor. This requires shaping unimaginably complex magnetic containment fields in real-time to prevent the plasma from touching the reactor walls. This is a real-time optimization problem so complex it’s currently beyond our capabilities. A TSU, however, could be fast enough. Its ability to compute with electricity itself, rather than abstracting the problem through layers of software, might allow it to update the magnetic fields fast enough to stabilize the fusion reaction. One could even imagine a future where thermodynamic computing elements are built directly into the tokamak’s walls, allowing the reactor to physically and intelligently react to the plasma’s state in real time. A ‘GPT-2 Moment’ for a New Era It’s easy to become numb to hype, but what we are witnessing with the TSU feels different. This is what you might call a “GPT-2 moment.” For those who were there, GPT-2 was the first generative AI model that wasn’t just a toy; it was the first time you could play with it at home and see the spark of true generative intelligence. It was the precursor that pointed directly to the GPT-3 and ChatGPT revolution that has since changed the world. This TSU has that same feel. It’s the “SDK” for a new computing paradigm. This technology is as different from classical computing as quantum computing is, but with a critical difference: a team of 15 built this in two years, and it runs at room temperature on your desk. Quantum computing has seen decades of work and billions in funding, and it still hasn’t produced a commercially viable, scalable machine. The TSU is here now. Based on a two-decade-long career at the cutting edge of technology—from seeing the obvious future of virtualization in 2007 to an early conviction in deep learning and GPT—this has all the same hallmarks of a fundamental, world-changing shift. We are not just building faster calculators; we are learning to compute with the universe itself. Pay close attention to this. This is the next big thing.

Today, we're launching Base Core, our own battery designed & built in Texas, and announcing our $1B Series D to bring it to homes across the country. Three years ago, we started Base with a belief that batteries were the unlock to energy abundance. We saw battery storage as the foundation of a modern energy system, and believed we could win the market with vertical integration, technology, and relentless execution (what we now call Base Pace). So we set out to build a network of distributed batteries to deliver affordable, reliable electricity to homeowners and utilities. While the job is far from finished, the launch of Base Core is the most meaningful step in that plan. We’ve spent the last few years learning hard lessons about building a distributed battery fleet, going from 1 install per day in June of ‘24 to 100 installs per day in June of ‘26. These lessons - how the battery is shipped, installed, used, and monitored - informed the design of Core. Now, Core will be the foundation of the company's next phase of growth. Base Core is a first-of-its-kind home battery. At ~40 kWh it is 3x the size of most home batteries, providing up to 36 hours of backup for the average home. In the event of multi-day outage, Core is equipped with a (first of its kind) generator port - pull out a small portable generator and charge the battery back up to keep your home running as long as you need. When an outage does happen, the backup is seamless - most members won't even notice the grid went down. It's built to withstand Texas summers, Chicago Winters, and everything in between. And finally, it’s manufactured by our team in Austin, at Base Factory 1, right across the street from our HQ. This new capital will bring Core to more homes and to accelerate our ambition beyond batteries. The round is co-led by Ribbit, Addition, Valor, and JP Morgan, with participation from new major investors D1, Sands, Coatue, Layer Global, and Energy Impact Partners. All of Base’s major existing investors are re-investing, including Thrive, Altimeter, Lightspeed, a16z, CapitalG, Trust, and more. This brings our valuation to $13B. As we enter the most important growth period in the history of the electricity industry, our mission has not changed - advance human prosperity by delivering the world's most affordable and reliable electricity. Our strategy has not changed - technology, plus vertical integration, plus relentless execution, leads to a compounding cost advantage. What has changed is the scope of our ambition - this new capital, along with the team and capabilities we've built over the last three years, positions us to build technology across the electric stack, including what it takes to serve surging demand from AI, and to deepen our partnerships with utilities as they work to meet rising demands. Electricity is the largest and most essential industry in the world, and it does not have a defining technology company. The company that delivers the most affordable, reliable power will be one of the largest and most impactful companies in the world. We intend to build it. If you'd like to join us, reach out. Onwards.

I wonder how long the people are gonna shamelessly defend Samsung all over :] The Galaxy S26 Ultra, which costs about 1500$ for the 512GB variant, might probably be the MOST EXPENSIVE Android in the 2026 as well... yet it can't even run the well optimized mainstream games on 60FPS for just 01 MINUTE... like for real man!‽ 😂 In the recent post where I posted the poor performance of S26 Ultra foe Wuthering Waves, people blamed the game... so here some gameplay test results from your so-called "MOST PERFECT, MOST OPTIMIZED" Hoyo games 🙂‍↕️ The FPS drops to avg 44-47 while just walking around in Genshin Impact after just playing for 4 or 6 minutes. The device completely crashes while playing Zenless Zone Zero at max settings and the FPS even drops to 27 during heavy combat... not in a long gaming session but it was a result of a 15min gameplay test 🥀 Now as for Wuthering Waves, yet it is the most hungry game among the mainstreams, yet the game is also getting slightly better at performance with each new patch update (not major version updates) While devices like IQOO 15 and POCO F8 Ultra with the same Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 are able to run the game for locked 60FPS for atleast 6mins, at the same session the S26 Ultra can't even reach 53FPS and the minimum it reaches during overworld battles is just 11FPS... crazy isn't it? 😂 Having a 200mp ai assisted camera and a so-called privacy display doesn't mean it's the best and has to be 1800$ while it can't even compete with a 450$ Chinese midrange smartphone at performance. Therefore now I guess why the Americans glaze with their IPhones over Samsung... welp, I've been also a Samsung user for 5 years and I still use one, but I don't think there's any of the devices that are more worthless than the S26 Ultra at its price point 😅 The only thing where Samsung is unbeatable might probably the official ui design and the customization features... which their devices are never made for gaming, but still their older devices delivered way more balanced performance at release. #WutheringWaves #WuWa #鳴潮 #WuWaCollection #WuWaAnniversary #GenshinImpact #Genshin #原神 #ZenlessZoneZero #アリア #ZZZ #SamsungGalaxyS26Ultra #zzzero

Alright, here's the real tea on the Tyga-Drake beef‼️💯 Back in the Young Money days, they were supposed to be label fam, but Tyga felt the whole "brotherhood" with Drake (and Nicki) was fake industry PR‼️. In October 2014, he went nuclear in a Vibe interview: "I don't like Drake as a person‼️. He's just fake to me‼️. I like his music though."‼️(it's also not surprising the interview was done by no other than Charlamagne, ther certified Drake hater from day one)‼️💯 Tyga followed it with the track "Make It Work"‼️💯straight disses like "Nigga never was my homie... you're corny" and some sneaky Drake-flow mimicry‼️💯. Drake clapped back cleverly: First, he posted Kylie Jenner (Tyga's controversial young girlfriend at the time) chilling in his studio on IG‼️💯. Then, on If You're Reading This It's Too Late (Feb 2015), "6 PM in New York" had the killer line: "You need to act your age and not your girl's age."‼️💯 The media and petty cycle turned it into full drama‼️💯age-gap tabloid fuel‼️, social media jabs‼️, the works‼️. Tyga later called it growing apart plus miscommunication, with headlines fanning the flames: "Once you get into the petty game, it's like, alright, let's be petty all day."‼️💯 How they squashed it⁉️ Kanye West played peacemaker‼️(surprisingly)‼️. Around his Yeezy Season 2 show (late 2015), Ye put them in a room‼️. They hugged, chopped it up like men, and that was it‼️💯. By early 2016, Tyga was on radio saying "Ain't no tension... We cool."‼️ No money or family harmed, so why beef⁉️ It never got super ugly because deep down it was more miscommunication than mortal enemy stuff‼️. Kanye forcing the talk showed a lot of these feuds die fast when adults actually speak offline‼️💯. They've been cool ever since—no shots, no drama‼️💯. Just two guys who moved on and kept eating‼️. But it was an interesting time for those who witnessed it‼️💯

This claim is common in hip-hop debates but not a fully valid or objective argument‼️. “Classic” is inherently subjective‼️it mixes artistic quality, cultural impact, influence on later artists, commercial success, critical consensus, longevity, and personal/fan attachment‼️. Time also matters; albums often need years (sometimes a decade+) to solidify that status beyond initial hype or backlash‼️. Strict definitions (near-universal agreement that an album is a masterpiece with transformative impact and no major weak spots) make true classics rare, so the “no one has four” take has some teeth‼️. So here's my top 10 rappers with 4 classic albums‼️ It should be noted that these are ranked roughly by how often they come up in “most classics” or elite discography discussions, with commonly cited projects‼️. 1. Kanye West / Ye — Frequently the anomaly people point to. Core: "The College Dropout", "Late Registration", "Graduation", "My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy". Many add "808s & Heartbreak", "Yeezus", and sometimes "The Life of Pablo". High impact and experimentation across eras‼️. 2. OutKast — One of the cleanest multi-classic runs: "Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik", "ATLiens", "Aquemini", "Stankonia". "Speakerboxxx/The Love Below" is often debated as a fifth (massive commercial and cultural success, though more fragmented as a duo project)‼️. 3. Jay-Z— "Reasonable Doubt" "The Blueprint", "The Black Album", and frequently "4:44" or "Vol. 2… Hard Knock Life" / "American Gangster". Longevity and consistency across decades help the case‼️. 4. Nas— "Illmatic" (near-universal consensus classic), "It Was Written", "Stillmatic", and often "God’s Son", "The Lost Tapes", or later strong work like "Life Is Good". The “how many true classics⁉️” debate around him is endless‼️. 5. Eminem — The early three-album peak is widely locked in: "The Slim Shady LP", 'The Marshall Mathers LP", "The Eminem Show". "Recovery" or others get argued into the conversation less often but still appear‼️. 6. Kendrick Lamar — "good kid, m.A.A.d city" and "To Pimp a Butterfly" are near-locks for most. DAMN. is frequently included; *Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers* is more polarizing but still highly regarded by many‼️. 7. Scarface — Strong underground-to-mainstream case with "The Diary", "The Fix", and key Geto Boys work ("Grip It! On That Other Level", "We Can’t Be Stopped") often counted toward his total. 8. MF DOOM — "Operation: Doomsday", "Madvillainy' (with Madlib), "Mm..Food", and others like "Born Like This". Cult status and critical reverence are extremely high even if commercial reach was smaller. 9. 2Pac — "Me Against the World" and "All Eyez on Me" are core. Additional studio and major posthumous projects expand the discussion for many fans, though purity debates exist around the latter‼️. 10. The Roots (or similar high-consistency acts like A Tribe Called Quest in group contexts) — Multiple highly regarded projects ("Things Fall Apart, "Game Theory", "Undun", earlier work) that sit in the classic/near-classic tier for a large portion of heads. Solo-focused lists sometimes swap in others like Common or Ghostface for similar depth.‼️ Honorable mentions that frequently enter the 3+ conversation: Lil Wayne (especially the "Carter" era peak)‼️, Drake – Take Care, Nothing Was the Same (frequently argued; cultural impact and longevity push the case for more, though consensus is split)‼️J. Cole (more debated)‼️, Ghostface Killah, and various golden-era acts‼️. Is there a name missing⁉️

On the 13th of Sept, someone transferred 180k for an iPhone Xs 256GB. After acknowledging his receipt, he called, and I told him we don't have it but will ask colleagues and let him know. I asked my friend, and he told me 190k. I begged him to leave it at 180k because that is what the guy deposited (check frame 2 for reference). When he sent the phone from Kano to Jos, then I noticed it was an Xs Max. Seeing that the guy was in a hurry and didn't want to disappoint, I called him and told him what happened and said if he wants the Max, he can take it at no additional cost. I was willing to settle the difference because it was his first time buying from us. I packaged it with a new premium charger because all our used phones are sent packaged in our branded box with a charger, and I sent it to him in Abuja. He later messaged that he has received the phone and truly appreciates it. After months of not receiving any complaints from him, it clearly indicates that he has received a fully functioning phone. It is in our policy that if you find anything faulty within one week, you can return it to us and either ask for a replacement or refund. What this means is that the cost of bringing it from Kano to Jos, the packaging and charger, and the delivery to Abuja are all a loss to me. But I didn't mind because at least I have satisfied him. Nine weeks later, while I was in Kano, I saw a call from an unknown number. When I picked up, he said it was him. He told me that the camera has started giving him problems. I told him it has been months since you bought it, but you can take it to any repair store and tell me how much you spent, and I will pay. He asked if I know anyone, and I sent him someone's number. The guy didn't pick; he texted and informed me and later called me. I told him to go to anyone he trusts and let me know the amount he spent. A few days later, I was stranded between Kaduna and Abuja on my trip from Kano to Abuja because my car engine failed. He called, and I didn't pick; I don't even know his number. Later in the night, I received his messages on WhatsApp with a threat that he will make a video to tarnish the image of my business. Someone I was willing to help after months of buying a USED device from me is threatening me. I said he should go ahead because I can't entertain him anymore. In conclusion, a trade that I incurred a loss from is what some people are trying to justify as a scam. The beautiful part is I have made trades with hundreds of people here, and I would love two more people to come out and present a case in which they are still using a device I sold to them that is faulty and they contacted me for a replacement or refund, and I didn't do it instantly. "The hypocrite will always look for faults" - Ghazali. Those that are looking for a fault in me can justify something as woke as this; it doesn't matter. This is my own side and will no longer entertain him anymore. For those that believe in me without hearing from me, thank you so much.

5 years ago, I created a fundraiser on Donate-NG to buy a laptop. I had just been admitted to the university to study Computer Science. But I didn't own a laptop. That was a very big setback for me. The Job I had then was paying 500 Naira per 1000 Word article I wrote. At the time, I was studying with a Tecno Y6 that had passed from my older sister to my older brother, then to me. (A generational phone 😅) I kept asking myself: How was I supposed to survive the department like this? To make things worse, my dad was battling prostate cancer. Asking for money wasn’t even an option. So on October 7th, 2020, in the heat of COVID, I did the only thing I thought I could do. I made this YouTube video begging good Nigerians to help me raise money for a laptop. That video is still online and yes… It’s embarrassing now 😅 Nobody watched it, and Not a single naira was raised. ----- That moment could have broken me. But instead, something clicked. I realized no one was coming to save me. So I decided to take control of my life. That same October; • I got my first Web3 gig as a community engager • The pay was ₦6,000 per month • It wasn’t much, but it was hope Then in December 2020, everything changed. • A VC paid me $500 to engage across the projects they invested in. For the first time in my life, I had real money in my hands. I withdrew ₦160,000, and I bought my first laptop. My First Laptop: That laptop is still with me today. I keep it with me as a reminder of my sheer grit and hustle. From that moment on, everything began to compound. I went on to work with and contribute to multiple Web3 and tech projects, building communities, onboarding users, managing growth, running programs, and shipping real impact across Africa. I grew from: • A student with no laptop • To help hundreds of people get jobs through my academy - The Void Academy (Many students from there are now earning working remotely) • To onboard tens of thousands of users across Africa • To manage ambassadors, communities, and growth teams Today: • I work as a User Acquisition & Marketing Manager earning a six-figure salary (₦) • I earn 6 figures (₦) bi-weekly from X creator payouts • I can afford any laptop I want • I use a phone I could only dream of back then And today… I’m officially launching the waitlist for my first product as a founder. ----- A Phone and A Dream (A Phone and A Dream | Waitlist Live) This product is deeply personal. Because I’ve lived this story. I know that talent is everywhere, but opportunity is not, and getting opportunities today starts with access to basic tools. A Phone and A Dream exists to change that. ----- So, what exactly is A Phone and A Dream? A Phone and A Dream is a social-impact platform that connects device donors with people who lack access to basic tech tools: students, builders, creators, and professionals, using the Avalanche🔺 blockchain to make every donation transparent, traceable, and impactful. We believe access to the right device can be the difference between potential and progress. I'm living proof of that, so are many of you reading this right now. This isn’t just about giving devices. It’s about unlocking opportunity. Devices that can be donated include: 1. Phones: Smartphones of all brands (Android & iOS) 2: Laptops: Windows laptops 3. The Laptop Guy (Ayilola of Nigeria /Laptop Guy 🩺 🇳🇬 🇬🇧🇺🇸) has been trying to help millions of Nigerians with devices. This guy sells AI employees to small businesses. He's a non-technical designer with no audience, spends $0 on ads, has no tech background. Yet he's still done 21 agent setups in 6 months, almost all from referrals. His model: install one AI agent as a digital employee, then get paid monthly to manage it and coach the owner. Setup fee plus a per-agent monthly rate. Phil came on the Build With AI pod to walk us through the whole playbook. Here's what I learned: 1. The product is the coaching, not the agent. Owners treat AI like Google. You get paid to manage it so they never have to. 2. Raise your price every yes. $500 setups became $1,000. Now he's targeting $2,000 setups plus $1,000/month per agent. 3. Give the agent a value ledger. It logs every task and sends a weekly ROI report. One client's first week: 63 hours saved, $6,300 in value. 4. Put yourself in the group chat. Telegram group with Phil, the client, and the agent. The client learns by watching him talk to it. 5. The agents handle real multi-step work. One prompt: find the invoice email, extract the PDF into Excel, save to Dropbox, send the link. Done in 10 minutes. 6. Uptime is a selling point. The best prospects tried agents themselves and quit when they broke. Phil fixes it before the client notices. 7. Free work is the referral engine. Friends in his small Georgia town told friends in Atlanta and Dallas. Now he has clients nationwide. 8. The pitch is one text. "I'm testing a managed agent service. Want to be a guinea pig? I'll charge you less." First client: $250/month. 9. Make the agent write to Excel, not its own markdown. A shared source of truth is the difference between a demo and a system. 10. Phil builds his agents on Orgo. $29/month gets your agent a computer with pre-built templates. Phil's agent handles the Orgo admin itself. His 2 key takeaways: 1. You only need to be one step ahead. If you've built an agent for yourself, you know more than the owner who never has. Charge from day one. 2. Visible ROI is the retention strategy. A weekly "you saved $6,300" report re-sells the retainer every single week. Phil is doing this at a level most technical people are not, and we had a blast going deep on it. Go follow Phil Full video below. (Also available on the Build With AI podcast wherever you get your pods)

🇨🇳 Chinese tourism is 95% domestic: this means most of the tourists you see in China are not foreigners but just other Chinese Even if we'd visit the most tourist places in China, we'd see maybe 1 Westerner (if we're lucky) vs. 10,000 Chinese Which honestly makes it a more fun place to visit to Maybe the most fun place I visited since I became a digital nomad in 2013 I thought about WHY I liked this so much, and I think one of the reasons traveling for me as a digital nomad starting 10+ years ago was so magical, was because it was NEW and there was barely anyone doing it, like there'd be 20 other digital nomads in Chiang Mai You felt a lot like Ernest Hemmingway, traveling to far away countries, interacting with people and observing the differences in culture and learning from them But things have changed a bit. There's now 2x more people traveling in the world than 15 years ago (from 900 million to now 1.8 tourist trips per year). By 2035, that'll be 3x more Now that everyone can travel anywhere (and also bring their laptop), travel has boomed, and there's a lot less places where you're still the only foreigner visiting Even if you go to some remote non-tourist place, you're bound to run into another Dutch, German, Brit, Spanish or American traveler every 5 minutes China feels like you are the only one there, and due to geopolitics it's more isolated from the West than ever, and many Westerners are scared to visit (whether that's valid or not) This makes people also really super super nice, because you're the odd one out, and they know that, so they'll do everything to help you and be very pragmatic at that too. And they're not tired of tourists/foreigners yet, more like excited to see you (because there simply is barely any) This video is obviously a very tourist spot, but most of the non-touristy things you see in China are not crowded like this, actually more like very spacious and not busy, which also makes it a very comfortable place to visit, because other places have become so crowded with tourism and just general travel, that they're overcapacity, and it's not fun China is generally under capacity, and that makes it generally smooth to travel here (okay maybe except this tourist spot :D) This spot btw is the Hongya Cave famous for being built into the rocks and full of lights, it actually looks sick from inside too, imagine building a house in Minecraft into the rocks, very cool and full of food and shops inside the rocks (it's where I took the food video from below)
