FEMA Spokesperson Jaclyn Rothenberg: I want everyone listening to hear it from me: FEMA helps all people before, during, and after disasters. FEMA helps people before, during, and after disasters — it is our mission statement, and it is in every tagline. We help people regardless of background, across all of these states that need assistance. Our goal is to get assistance into the hands of people who need it most, regardless of their background, and that’s what we’ll continue to do. When I hear the misinformation about FEMA only providing assistance to certain people, that’s really hard to hear because that’s absolutely not true. We help people in every community where there’s a federally declared disaster, and it’s really unfortunate that there’s misinformation because that discourages people from applying for assistance. So I want to make sure that people apply for FEMA assistance. That’s 1-800-621-3362. If we haven’t heard from you, please call. You can also register on We want to make sure that we can help you get critical funding. We can help provide you with individual assistance to help repair your home. If you’re an entrepreneur… if your personal computer has been impacted, we can help pay for that. We can help you apply for all these different types of programs across the federal government so we can get you back on your feet.

Here in Illinois, we are proud to continue expanding access to health care in our state. Donald Trump and MAGA Republicans in Washington are cutting funding for services — and now even threatening to shut down the federal government over it.

Today, I am proud to announce that President Biden and I are lowering the cost of child care for more than 100,000 working families who receive federal child care assistance. This is another step towards ensuring that every family can access affordable, high-quality child care.

President Trump has declared war on Colorado. His latest act of retribution is vetoing a bipartisan bill — that passed unanimously — to provide 50,000 people in rural Colorado access to clean water. Unless Congress acts, no town, city or state in America will be safe from his political retaliation.

This is one of the worst bills for working families our country has ever seen. President Trump’s plan would slash Medicaid and SNAP, jeopardizing health care access for 196,000 Marylanders and threatening food assistance for more than 684,000 Marylanders. It would make energy bills more expensive, raise health care costs, and directly hurt Maryland families, from the western mountains to the Eastern Shore and everywhere in between. No state in the country could overcome the consequences if it were to become law.

Dandiya: So, my district—where I was born and raised, District 21—has had Brian Mast in the seat since 2016. For many years now, there’s been a growing disconnect between his leadership and the people who elected him—who he should be working for. And I think we find ourselves in a political moment where Mast, with Trump, is not saying, “When I want you to jump, how high?” but rather, “Is it high enough?” And I think folks in our district are beginning to catch wind of this and say, “This is not what we signed up for. You’re not here to represent us.” We have an elected official who, just a few weeks ago, was voting to raise health care premiums for constituents in our district, which would have affected 70,000 voters that he himself serves. He’s also been silent while ICE has been tearing through our communities without regard for human life. And the list goes on and on.

I met with Austrian Foreign Minister Beate Meinl-Reisinger and Portuguese Foreign Minister Paulo Rangel. We are grateful for the assistance to our people in the fight for freedom, consistent support of Ukraine's path to the EU, and for the warm attitude toward our people who have found refuge from the war in these countries. I spoke about the meeting between the Ukrainian and American teams in Jeddah and the efforts to bring a just and lasting peace closer. Ukraine is ready to take the first quick steps to achieve peace and is doing everything possible for this. We discussed defense support for our state, as well as Austria's and Portugal's assistance in the reconstruction of schools, creation of school shelters, restoration of energy infrastructure, and the humanitarian initiative "Food from Ukraine."

For more than a decade, I’ve been fighting for parents, veterans, families, and the America First principles that put our nation, our communities, and our children first. I haven’t just talked about these issues, I’ve been on the front lines, advocating for Florida families in school board meetings, county chambers, the state Capitol, and in Congress. Now, I’m ready to take that fight to Washington and be a strong voice for the people of Florida’s 14th Congressional District. For ways to support see link in comments.
