He also said that SpaceX would fail and that private enterprises would never succeed at developing technology for space exploration. He's got a rich history of being wrong.

Neil deGrasse is too full of himself. Most people can see that Humans will eventually go extinct if we dont expand. Whether from war, comet, disease, etc.
