When Ayana was young, she had a penchant for adventure, often sneaking into the forbidden Nyanite caverns beneath Nekovia with her friends. Despite her parents' stern warnings about the dangers, the allure of the mysterious caverns was irresistible. Within those caverns, a naturally occuring mineral known as Nyanite flowed like liquid silver under the influence of strange magnetic forces. A favorite hangout spot for the youngsters was by a shimmering Nyanite lake. One day, as they played around the abandoned mining equipment, disaster struck. A crane came loose, swinging dangerously toward one of Ayana’s friends. Ayana was the fastest in her group and rushed forward, pushing her friend out of harm’s way. But the crane continued its deadly arc, striking Ayana and hurling her into the lake. The surface of the lake, coruscating with light, swallowed Ayana whole. Her friends stood frozen in horror; they knew that contact with such a vast amount of liquid Nyanite, an extremely reactive substance, was fatal. To make matters worse, the falling crane electrified the lake on contact, sending bolts of lightning racing across the surface. Suddenly with a blinding flash and a thunderous explosion, Ayana’s limp body was ejected from the lake and thrown onto the shore. Against all odds, Ayana survived. But she was different. Ayana had gained a unique ability to generate massive amounts of electricity from within her body. Scientists studying the phenomenon were never able to replicate it. As Ayana grew, her extraordinary power caught the attention of the military. Ayana was eventually recruited to the military, where her unique ability allowed her to power her own Guardian and grant it fearsome electrification capabilities. Free from the need for a conventional power source for her Guardian, engineers were able to reduce its weight and profile drastically, granting exceptional agility and speed at no cost of power. Ayana soon grew into the military’s most accomplished and relied-upon scout. There’s only one catch: Every seven days, Ayana must immerse herself in electrified liquid Nyanite to recharge her inner battery. The scientists who studied her concluded that failing to do so would cause her body to shut down permanently.
