Net Zero virtue signalling articulated in 55 seconds. Australia restricts domestic coal use but sends it overseas for other countries to burn. Australian comedian Dave Hughs: “We’re not allowed to burn it here... but we can sell it, and they can burn it... it’s one planet... so if you...

Sounds suspiciously like Hughesy has thought these things all along, but is only now pissed-off enough to say them… But a win is a win 🍻

We ship it to China via fossil fuels, let them burn it there and then ship the products back to Australia via fossil fuels It would be more environmentally friendly to burn it here and save 2 trips to China

Apparently our 16 existing coal fired power stations mustn’t burn any of our coal? How much coal we burn on a day to day basis is determined by an auction run by AEMO.

zoppa's profile picture
zoppa3 months ago

Exactly! We are ONE planet, so whether the coal is burned in China or Australia, it's still burned. So we should use it ourselves. Meanwhile, Labor are literally BLOWING UP coal power stations.

@ImSooooOverIt He isn’t wrong. That’s the stupidity of our government and the ignorance of those that believe in the climate hoax

So sad it's beyond funny. Thank the uniparty, especially the Greens, for this nonsense. China builds a new coal-fired power plant every week, they just love cheap Aussie coal. And we enough in the ground to keep them happy for centuries lol

Australia ranks 8th in resource riches on the planet - it shouldn't have to be like this.

Do you want the government to buy all the coal plants and run them at a loss? The only way coal is part of our future is if that happens. And taxes will have to pay for it. Coal is not economical. Simple.

We do burn it here. We have coal fired power stations you absolute ignoramus.

Alan Luchetti's profile picture

We are still burning it. Other countries who also burn it are getting off it slower than we are, most are bigger than we are, but most are building more renewables than we are. Your anti-PC shtick is getting old.

If we were to try for NET ZERO we would have to burn a LOT of coal. Our forests and oceans absorb a LOT more CO2 than we produce. Currently we are NET NEGATIVE. Even NASA agrees; they put out a study in 2018 that the world is REALLY greening - the plants are winning.

Australia sends its coal to China and gas to Japan. But we are not allowed to use it ourselves. Everyone benefits EXCEPT the Australian people! #auspol

What about the energy it takes to get it overseas to where they burn it…. If they actually wanted to reduce emissions and be better environmentally they’d burn it here and build stuff with it here even if it cost more. We’re being shafted from every angle

It's just another way to destroy the West. NetZero destroying the West. Mass Migration destroying the West. Elites are protecting their wealth and power. Much easier to rule over the browns. Especially if they're all pegged down by some form of communism.

Good to see Dave going full noise. As soon as Albo is discarded of he can go back to being a washed comic. Celebrities helped push all that woke crap and he’s at risk of getting hoodwinked like a retard again.

Australia has been using less and less coal because we have better (cheaper and cleaner) energy source options: gas, solar and wind. We may even add nuclear in the future.

Funny how governments on opposite sides of the world keep arriving at the same “solution.” Coincidence? Shared ideology? Shared institutions? Whatever the explanation, Australians are entitled to ask who these policies are really serving. #NetZero #NationalInterest

...and to keep the turnover/profit they agreed to sell three times as much volume to India as we burned here! BUT.... it's all good, Australia is clean, we don't burn it ourselves. Just another thing the Australian Greens have done for us - they had a big opportunity to become the party of "keeping the bastards honest" but squibbed (again) - I would have voted for them myself if they'd stood up and said "you lied, we're not passing it" - incredible missed opportunity, we'd be talking about their rise in the polls instead of Hanson.

A dumbass comedian talking about energy and economics. Sure. 🤨 How are we restricting burning coal? Is it the govt or the private owners of coal power stations doing the restricting? Just checked the NEM. QLD is still burning a shit-ton of coal.

Nobody has built a new coal plant in over 15 years. During that time we had two pro coal PMs and a decade of Coalition government. It’s almost like nobody wants to commit the money.

Carbon is good for the planet, it nourishes every plant on the planet which in turn nourishes every living being. Burning Petroleum based products and creating hundreds of millions of tonnes of plastic is a problem that could destroy the entire foodchain, that's why it's allowed.
