Netanyahu Announces Pardon Request, Citing National Interest and U.S. Coordination “Citizens of Israel, almost a decade has passed since the investigations against me began. The trial has been ongoing for nearly 6 years, and is expected to continue for many more. As exonerating evidence that completely disproves the false... claims against me is revealed in court, and as it becomes clear that the case against me was built through serious violations, my personal interest was and remains to continue this process to its end, until full acquittal on all counts. But the security and political reality, the national interest, demands otherwise. Israel faces enormous challenges, alongside tremendous opportunities. To counter these threats and seize these opportunities, national unity is essential. The ongoing trial tears us apart from within, fuels fierce disagreements, and deepens divisions. I am sure, like many others, that ending the trial immediately would help lower tensions and promote the broad reconciliation our country so desperately needs. I’ve struggled with this decision, but recent events have tipped the scales. Due to the judicial panel’s decision, I’m required to testify 3 times weekly, 3 times a week. This is an impossible demand not required of any other Israeli citizen. I’ve also considered President Trump’s repeated appeals to Israel’s president. President Trump called for an immediate end to the trial, so we could work together on vital shared interests between Israel and the United States, in a time window that may not return. Dear citizens of Israel, I have been repeatedly elected in democratic elections and trusted by you to continue serving as Prime Minister of Israel, primarily to achieve these historic goals. This way he is giving Israel the tools we need to finish the job against Iran’s terror axis. Israel has accepted President Trump’s envoy Steve Witkoff's plan to extend the temporary ceasefire by 50 days, during that time we can discuss the conditions for a permanent ceasefire that will end the war in Gaza. In Witkoff’s plan, half of the hostages would be released right away and the remaining half would be released if we reach an agreement on a permanent ceasefire. Again, Israel has accepted this plan. I accepted this plan. But so far, Hamas has rejected it. Hamas had also put forward positions for a permanent ceasefire that are totally unacceptable. Israel has decided to stop letting goods and supplies into Gaza, something we've done for the past 42 days. We've done that because Hamas steals the supplies and prevents the people of Gaza from getting them. It uses these supplies to finance its terror machine, which is aimed directly at Israel and our civilians – and this we cannot accept. We will take further steps if Hamas continues to hold our hostages. And throughout this, Israel knows that America and President Trump have our back. Thank you again, President Trump! After watching a powerful and courageous interview he gave to the Kurdish TV channel Rûdaw, it is clear that this is a rare and bold voice of a Kurdish religious and social leader calling on the world to listen. President Trump and Prime Minister Netanyahu are the only two leaders who have the courage to confront “the world’s greatest enemy.” We were not dragged into this war by Israel… we were dragged into it by Iran. For decades, the regime has targeted American bases and personnel, pursued nuclear weapons, and openly declared its intent to annihilate the United States and Israel. President Trump weighed the risk of doing nothing against targeted strikes and made the right call in America’s interest. I have yet to hear a coherent argument for allowing this regime to continue unchecked.
