Beijing is 120 km from Tianjin. High-speed trains take only 30 minutes to complete the trip. Ticket: 54.5 RMB. During peak hours every day, trains depart every five minutes, turning the high-speed rail into a subway. This is China’s first high-speed rail line opened in 2008. When I was a kid, there were no high-speed trains in China, and I frequently traveled on such express trains from Tianjin to Beijing. It took around 1.5 hours for the trip.

peak bengaluru moment booked an auto through ola for a ride that was almost an hour long ... the driver asked for extra money even before the trip started ... i said i will see to it once we reached because i didn't want to argue before the ride when we finally reached i took out cash to pay the fare ... he refused to accept it and said "am i a beggar" because he wanted upi only ... somehow i ended up being the one saying sorry just to avoid creating a scene after that attitude i didn't pay the extra amount he had asked for at the start came back to bengaluru after a long time and this was the first experience i had ... since when did paying in cash become a problem ... and are ola and uber auto drivers even allowed to demand extra money before the ride starts ... genuinely asking

A new EV in the offing SERES 3 is going to be launched (locally assembled) soon in Pakistan. The expected launching price is PKR 9 million. I was given the opportunity to test drive the car. Here is my take: Like any other EV it is a more economical, soundless, and environmentally friendly car with a thrill of enjoying instant torque – I did 0 to 100 in 9 seconds (video attached). According to the manufacturers – in ideal conditions – the range is 400 km in full charge (battery capacity is 50 kwh). My experience is doing approx. 300 Km in Lahore traffic. Assuming electricity cost of Rs60/Kwh, the cost/Km is Rs9 which is 1/3rd of Sportage (the car I drive). Additionally, there is no engine maintenance cost, which makes it more economical (calculation comparison with Sportage FWD is attached). EV is the best driving option to improve the environment in your city – especially in smoggy Lahore. The biggest issue people have with EV is range anxiety – We as a family used this car for our daily errands and school runs and there was no stress for two days if we drove 80–100Km a day. The second biggest issue is that of charging. We charged this at home during the night -started charging after 11 PM (to avoid peak hour) and by 6 AM in the morning, the car is fully charged (from 30% to 100%) – hence, within city, there is no need to find a charging station. I may not prefer it on the long route – though technically it can run easily from Lahore to Bhera and within 30-40 mins charging there, the car would cruise to Islamabad. It’s a Chinese car, and I don’t like ICE Chinese cars; but in case of EV, it is a doable option. Chinese auto players are better in EV technology than Japanese and others. SERES has a very good road grip, very decent interior, and a good family car. My driver wants me to replace the one he usually drives with this one because of the cost saved in petrol. My gas guzzler-loving friends also approve of this eco-friendlier model. It’s going to be a new and exciting addition to the locally assembled cars. Good luck to Regal Motors.

At 54, here’s something I think about a lot: The good old days don’t feel like it at the time. It feels more like struggle. From the age of 25 to 45, you’re in the thick of it—building a career, raising kids, trying to get ahead (or just keep up with life). It’s so easy to lose perspective and forget that… You’re in the sweet spot. One day you’ll look back on that struggle as the best of times. Every season of life has its pros and cons—triumphs and challenges—but there’s nothing quite like the prime adult years. So what are we to do about it? Simply recognize that you’re living your good old days right now. Slow down. Savor it. Smell the roses. Because I’m here to tell you… The days are long, but the years fly by. 🎥: First flight for my younger daughter. I thought I was climbing the mountain—little did I know I was standing on the peak.

BC, here’s the next update on the unusual bomb cyclone situation, on Nov 19th. (Scroll for wind forecast) The low pressure system - which is currently roughly 3,200 km SSW of Vancouver island - will race southeast over the pacific during the next 36 hours, while growing rapidly. But the weather system truly becomes problematic as it turns northeast Tuesday morning, where it will completely devour the low in the gulf of Alaska. The storm will explode in intensity, and as pressures plummet near the centre of the storm, winds will explode to numbers more typically seen in tropical cyclones. At this point the storm will be a major bomb cyclone, and will obtain peak intensity by late afternoon or early evening, roughly 400 km west of Vancouver Island. Peak intensify: • Max wind gusts: 185km/h • Min pressure: 944mb Yet the low casts uncertainty over parts of the BC south coast. Northern and western Vancouver island are likely to be impacted with very high southeasterly winds, but southern and eastern sections lay in a zone filled with possibilities. Despite that, I have gathered together the latest data, to create this forecast ⬇️ • Western Vancouver Island: Peak wind gusts 80 to 110km/h, except up to 140km/h near Brooks peninsula provincial park. Timeframe: Tuesday afternoon, through Wednesday. • Northern Vancouver Island: Peak wind gusts of 90 to 120km/h. Timeframe: Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday night. • Eastern Vancouver Island: Peak gusts of 70 to 100km/h. May be the most difficult hurdle for a wrestler to clear—trusting that the same offense that built the lead is what protects it. The instinct is to protect the lead, but the approach that creates better odds, less regret, and is simply more logical is to keep wrestling the same way that created the lead. Stay on the attack, stay in position, and keep applying pressure. The one who needs to change and create opportunity is the opponent who is losing. So why would you go ahead and assist them in this by back peddling and lead protecting, opening up two windows that weren’t there before? 1 – Stall points 2 – Allowing your opponent to solely focus on their offense as they no longer have to respect your attacks. You hear wrestlers in post-match interviews “We do this all the time in the room! Down 2 with 30 seconds left and working to find a takedown.” Not so much the opposite… “up 2 with 30 seconds left and just have to find ways to back up to protect the lead!” So why resort to something you don’t practice in the most crucial moments of a match—or your season? Press Release by Govt of #GilgitBaltistan on #BroadPeak Rescue Mission. On 29th June 2026, a 10-member international mountaineering expedition entered #Skardu District to attempt Broad Peak (8,047 meters) in District Shigar, Gilgit-Baltistan. The expedition was organized through #Karakoram Expeditions, Imagine Climb Pakistan, and Blue Sky Trek & Tours Company. The expedition comprised the following members: Ms. Sarah Mallory Geis (USA) – Passport No. 599471051 Mr. Pur Bahadur Gurung (Nepal) – Passport No. PA1615826 Mr. Nirmal Purja (United Kingdom) – Passport No. 128247796 Mr. Nawang Thindhu Sherpa (Nepal) – Passport No. 11369295 Mr. Gyalu Sherpa (Nepal) – Passport No. PA2420930 Mr. Nima Sherpa (Nepal) – Passport No. PA1853010 Ms. Nadhira Ahmed Abdullah Al Harthy (Oman) – Passport No. VV0447400 Mr. Wang Zhong (China) – Passport No. EP4960542 Mr. Kili Pemba (Nepal) – Passport No. BA0209737 Mr. Suhail Shahzad (Pakistan) On 30th July 2026, the climbing team was last contacted at 9:00 a.m. by the handling tour operator. However, subsequent contact could not be established. At 8:00 p.m., it was reported that an avalanche occurred while the team was ascending from Camp-II to Camp-III at an approximate altitude of 6,600 meters. The official rescue mission commenced following a formal request from the tour operators at 8:30 a.m. on 31st July 2026. Pakistan Army Aviation helicopters deployed a three-member civilian rescue team led by renowned mountaineer Mr. Sirbaz Khan to Broad Peak Base Camp. The team also included Mr. Waqar and Mr. Shehzad. The rescue team began its ascent on foot from Base Camp towards Camp-II and recovered the following three bodies/remains: Ms. Nadhira Ahmed Abdullah Al Harthy – Oman Ms. Sarah Mallory – USA (remains of body) Mr. Pur Bahadur Gurung – Nepal The three recovered bodies have been shifted to CMH by Pakistan Army Aviation helicopters, and legal formalities for identification are underway. Due to inclement weather, the search and rescue operation for the day has been suspended and will resume the following day, with additional Sherpas from other expeditions joining the effort. The rescue team remains stationed at the base camp and has reported spotting several more bodies through drone footage. The rescue operation is being conducted under extremely challenging terrain and high-altitude weather conditions by the #Pakistan Army in coordination with local high-altitude climbers and rescuers. The Government of Gilgit-Baltistan extends its heartfelt condolences to the families of the climbers and remains committed to supporting the ongoing search and rescue mission, as well as the transportation of the recovered bodies to their respective countries.
