This is the “Phoenix Project” of robotics. Local optimizations (a clever model) don’t matter if the system can’t ship safely at scale. Data pipeline + validation + rollback is the real product.

But what will run the humans? Fear or Unified Star Trek Inspiration?

We are coherent at the neuron scale now.

will we see any other architecture which will outperform NNs and do the task even more simply

The convergence of software and hardware intelligence. This is what exponential looks like. 🤖

There is no doubt about this claim. I replaced enormous amount of hand coded C++ for DNN in a visual object classification program. It now runs faster (less than 30ms on a 8y old laptop) and uses less power. The recognition quality increased towards ppm.

"Dumb men refused to let women be smart in the same room so they created dumb machines that kill children's brains, and then they got locked up in D Ward for being fuckign crazy."

you are so anxious to give up on humanity. transhumanism sucks. its defeatism.

So amazing. I wish I had the robots skills to be and to do that!

the inference cost per bot is gonna make these things luxury items only.

and what about the ethics? will the neural nets have a prime directive?

Humanoids & cars aren't all by a long shot. Once these neural nets are going strong, they'll be in everything. All of our appliances having constant discussion about how to make our day go more smoothly 😎... Can't wait.
