Neural population dynamics in mouse motor cortex during voluntary gait modification. Neuropixels 2.0 is really a game-changer for resolving single-trial dynamics in a freely-moving prep. Check out Eric Kirk’s poster at SfN for more details …

Cool demo! Why does the contral-trail type drive MC eariler than the contral-lead type in PC1/2? I thought the mouse lifts contral paw first in the later contral-lead type?

Great question! The data in both conditions are aligned to swing onset for the contralateral limb. While there are certainly neurons (like this one) that fire during cFL swing over the obstacle, the dominant signal in PC 1-2 is synchronized with swing in the *leading* limb.

Looks interesting - is there a link to read more?

Thanks! Not yet, but stay tuned …

wow, it looks cool! I will let my team to visit the Eric Kirk's poster!

DLC still? Beautiful work 🥳

Thanks, Mackenzie! Yep - DLC + Anipose are the backbone of our tracking pipeline, and they work beautifully!
