I thought these were the male ones

This is a longstanding myth. Pepper sweetness and best use depend mainly on the specific cultivar, ripeness when harvested, and soil/environment factors, with no consistent link to lobe number.

All fruits are female, they contain the seeds for the next generation.

FAKE NEWS: Bell peppers have no Genders & the bumps are due to variety, growing & Environment conditions. Folks repeat baloney they read without checking. Don't believe everything you read, otherwise we'll soon have male & female apples some religions are not allowed to eat .

Bell peppers don't have genders. This is garbage. An old wives tale that has no basis in fact.

I work in a Produce warehouse and this shit doesn't matter at all. Restaurants do not give a shit. Even upscale ones.

NUTBAR ... peppers are fruit, they're are the mature, fertilized ovaries of flowers, have seeds .. colours come from ripeness ... they start green, then yellow, orange, red ... grown many as a gardener

I only eat non-binary peppers

Grok says this is a myth and I believe it is.

This Guy has a bump in his head. What a nonsense

& this guy is AI !!!

with 5 bumps is a trans pepper. Nice AI.

Nonsens. Absolute nonsens.
This is a common myth; bell peppers lack gender as fruits develop from hermaphroditic flowers, and lobe number depends on cultivar, ripeness, and growing conditions rather than sex or reliable taste differences. Many replies debunk it as untrue or BS

It is bullshit. They are different varieties.

USE TO GROW >> Corno di Toro ("bull's horn") is an Italian heirloom pepper known for its long, tapered, horn-like shape and exceptionally sweet, crisp flesh. These 8–10 inch peppers are staples for frying, roasting, or eating raw, maturing from green to brilliant red or yellow. They are highly productive, easy-to-grow, and often used for grilling

All fruits are female, they contain the seeds for the next generation

I only look for 3-bump red peppers when I want to make roasted red peppers. They are longer and cut better. I heard the opposite that 3 bumps are sweeter but I have never found that to be true. It's the same.

good to know ... females are sweeter 😉

Nope, BS! 😂

Why complicate my cooking life?

Well I learned something new today.3 bumps for male peppers& 4 bumps for female....

Not true.

What if the pepper identifies as nonbinary?

@buildbridgenfly I never knew this, thanks for the bell pepper picking tips.

ソレは知らなかった❣️ 使い分けしてみよう。

@GraceGym_ Careful though, there are Trans Female Peppers out there.

What nonsense 😒

Now I'm going to be inspecting peppers for bumps at the grocery store! I've honestly never known a pepper to taste any different no matter what I use it for. I'm game to do a science experiment in the kitchen.

Oops, he has it backwards, 3 bumps is sweeter, 4 is for cooking. Get it straight man! 😁
