Always cut it hot, add copious butter, and eat the whole loaf hot. Anything else is uncivilized.

Y'all acting like this is a crime when half of you would demolish that steaming loaf with butter before it even hits the rack. Rules are for people scared of flavor. Gummy or not, fresh hot sourdough hits different.

Women seem so happy baking bread but they still choose to go off to college and get jobs making PowerPoints nobody cares about.

Why can’t you cut it hot?

Fresh out of the oven bread is the best tasting bread you'll ever grace your taste buds with. If you're going to eat it right away cutting it while it's hot is fuckin fine. If you're not going to eat it right away, don't cut it, the interior is still baking, you'll let all of the steam which provides moisture escape, and it will be less flavorful as natural alcohols that bake in during cooling escape with the steam.

So many haters in the bread community 😆 what is this thread

It’s not quite baked… gummy in the center and the crust is obviously not done... Needed about 5-8 more minutes. So, the person who doesn’t fully bake bread, cuts it when hot. Are we surprised?

The real reason not to cut sourdough hot: steam escapes too fast → bread dries out quicker + gummy texture inside. But this fermented beauty is a gut health superstar (probiotics + easier digestion) . Wait a bit for the best crumb & benefits. Worth the patience! 🔥🍞 #Sourdough #GutHealth #HealthyEating

Wrong. Bake two. Eat one hot and keep the other to cool down.

She did great for a first loaf. My first dozen+ loaves were terribly underproofed before I got the hang of it. It’s called practice.

Great crumb for a first loaf! Just a tip: cutting it hot traps the steam inside and makes it gummy. Let it cool completely next time for that perfect texture. Keep going!

.@AnnaGvarishvili you're the baker in the community, why shouldn't we cut it hot?

Profilbild von Adnan AL-Solmi

If it’s cut while hot, it destroys the crumb and makes the bread gummy because essential steam is allowed to release.

Profilbild von JimmyNoHands

Always cut hot. Enjoy with butter. But store cut side down after cutting. It's worth the slight reduction in quality in what you don't eat immediately, which should be half the loaf. Lol
