All the stuff I hear about Zim behind the scenes seemingly boils down to Nickelodeon going "I know we specifically asked for the work of a cartoonist known for dark comics, and we specifically agreed to the show's premise...But WHY does it have to be this way?????"

its also way funnier that he just puts him away like a toy under the chair. I feel like without being held back by being a kids cartoon, the kid would just get killed by being tossed in the fireplace in 1 second flat and its wouldnt be as funny.

Zim is funny because he's a idiot who is defined by his ego and pointless obsession with proving himself to people who don't even like him. That's the fulcrum of the series humor, it works because his goals don't make any sense.

None of them accept that its just a CARTOON. You want a serialized story that just ENDS, go down the hall to Avatar the Last Air Bender.

Now that I’m older a lot of zim jokes where lazy writing, needs to be more to a joke then insert adult humor into kids tv show. Like spongebob jokes, the adult jokes were just as funny as the kid humor.
