There’s famous dogfight footage from Cunningham & Driscoll’s Phantom whilst they’re chasing a MIG, a MIG being pursued by another Phantom goes right through the crosshairs. Cunningham said he didn’t see them!

Even at close range it seems to miss most if not all rochets.
