SF received nearly six inches of rain in last 24 hours.
Apparently today was the rainiest day in SF’s recorded history, shattering the previous record of 5.5” by at least a quarter inch.
Yesterday was rainiest day in 28 years. The National Weather Service reported that the city was within 9 hundredths of an inch of the rainiest day ever in 170+ years of record keeping.
Swaths of SF’s east side were built on top of ponds, swamps, creeks and the Bay itself. Enough rain and the city will again become ponds, swamps and creeks.
The next wave of heavy rain and wind coming Wednesday.
