Machines often have safety features like needing to press two separate buttons (both hands) so they're out of the way

You must press 2 buttons in order for it to operate the blade. Safety first.

I don't care how many safety precautions there are in place, this clip will still give me massive anxiety.

@halosyahh It is like the sensor for your garage. The blade only comes down when there is nothing detected in the way of the blade coming down. But, of course, anything can have faulty times…. Million dollars law suit

The first metal piece is the clamp coming down to secure the paper and show you where it will be cut. This is often controlled by a foot activated bar at the bottom of the guillotine. The second is the blade that does the cutting. All guillotines that are sold legitimately have a two button system where you can only initiate the cutting sequence by pressing both buttons at the same time. The buttons are typically 3 - 4 feet apart making it impossible to press both using one hand.

Why can’t he put the block of paper on this side of the line and put the waste bit on the other side. No need to place hands in harms way.

No way... I would have engineered something to position that without sticking my hands under the blade.

The machine has a double safety under the cutting deck. The operator has to reach under the deck with both hands, pressing a button on each side in order to operate the machine.

Never trust production machines That close call with the hand is terrifying but the precision is insane

Eres muy inculto, esas maquinas para accionarse tienes que presionar dos botones a la vez, asegurándose así que pones las dos manos fuera de la cuchilla

The first moving part just keeps it in place The second moving part is operated when the guy brings it down

People don’t understand how these machines work lol. You are in full control of the cutting, you have to put both hands on a pedal underneath the counter of the machine. Meaning the blade only goes down when you have both hands far away and squeezing the pedals to release blade

I'd use sticks or something. I will never put my arms under there.

I've used these before, they're perfectly safe. The clamp goes down with a foot pedal and the guillotine goes down with two button presses (one for each hand). There's also safety sensors to detect if there is anything present before allowing the guillotine to cut.

Two hands required for the bade to activate, hydraulic clamp is foot operated an pressure is extremely limited until a cut actually starts. Six or 8 photocells will not allow knife action unless cutting area is clear in a 36” x 18” x 8” area just in front of the knife.

These machines require two hands to push a button simultaneously in order to drop the blade. Most also have optical sensors that prevent the blade from dropping while objects are in the way.

If I started a job and they started showing me shit I’m just walking out the door and getting in my car and starting my car and turning off my phone and driving home to look for jobs and just would act like it never happened

If you mean this cutting machine I've worked with this before and while the press is activated by a pedal, the knife needs you to use both hands and press 2 buttons at the same time otherwise it won't fall down and cut 🫣 so you won't cut your hands

The caption is facts but let’s hear from actual machine operators: does this cutter have the two-button safety + sensors or is it an older model? How do you actually stay safe around these beasts?
