The first metal piece is the clamp coming down to secure the paper and show you where it will be cut. This is often controlled by a foot activated bar at the bottom of the guillotine. The second is the blade that does the cutting. All guillotines that are sold legitimately have a two button system where you can only initiate the cutting sequence by pressing both buttons at the same time. The buttons are typically 3 - 4 feet apart making it impossible to press both using one hand.

The machine has a double safety under the cutting deck. The operator has to reach under the deck with both hands, pressing a button on each side in order to operate the machine.

People don’t understand how these machines work lol. You are in full control of the cutting, you have to put both hands on a pedal underneath the counter of the machine. Meaning the blade only goes down when you have both hands far away and squeezing the pedals to release blade

I've used these before, they're perfectly safe. The clamp goes down with a foot pedal and the guillotine goes down with two button presses (one for each hand). There's also safety sensors to detect if there is anything present before allowing the guillotine to cut.

These machines require two hands to push a button simultaneously in order to drop the blade. Most also have optical sensors that prevent the blade from dropping while objects are in the way.

If you mean this cutting machine I've worked with this before and while the press is activated by a pedal, the knife needs you to use both hands and press 2 buttons at the same time otherwise it won't fall down and cut 🫣 so you won't cut your hands
