1. Public wifi is fine for apps that have TLS with cert pinning 2. Rogue APs can have a password too

I never connect unless it's a sandbox device I want to see who else is connected to it. I also kill my Bluetooth, location service, mic, and camera when I leave my house. However it's nearly impossible to explain and educate everyday people that it's not just simple "oh they got my email address". In their minds they feel they have given out that information for coupons and have zero compacity to understand modern phones, and more computers than a phone call.

What are your thoughts that neighbors use the default WiFi settings that allow their routers to reach beyond their property? Why should anyone see other people's WiFi? Other than potential security issues Isn't it intrusive? Shouldn't they limit their range instead?

Nobody will steal your passwords from keystrokes even on public wifi. The connections are all https now. The communication is encrypted.
