I’m going to continue showing the reality of what is happening in our city until Chicago citizens finally say, “Enough is enough.” Until Chicagoans are ready for REAL change, REAL accountability, and REAL leadership. Law and order has always been one of my number one priority. My administration will do just that. From the Juneteenth holiday weekend through the Fourth of July holiday weekend, at least 67 people were shot and at least 11 people were killed in Chicago, and that does not even include every shooting that happened between those two holiday periods. Juneteenth weekend (June 19–22, 2026) 47 people were shot, 8 killed and 39 wounded. Fourth of July weekend (2026) show that more than 20 people were shot, with at least 3 people killed during the long holiday weekend. Combined total for those two holiday weekends: About 67 people shot At least 11 people killed This does not include the shootings that occurred in between those two holiday weekends. Families are grieving. Communities are hurting. These are not just statistics, these are mothers, fathers, children, neighbors, and loved ones. We cannot normalize violence. We cannot ignore what people are experiencing on the ground. As Mayor, public safety will be a top priority. I will support our police officers, hold offenders accountable, focus on repeat violent offenders, and work to make every Chicago neighborhood safe. Chicagoans deserve leadership that tells the truth, listens to the people, and acts.
