BITCOIN DEVELOPER PROPOSES FORK TO REDISTRIBUTE SATOSHI'S 1.1M BTC Long-time Bitcoin developer Paul Sztorc has proposed a hard fork called eCash, scheduled for August 2026, that would create an entirely new chain copied from Bitcoin's existing code. According to the proposal, every current Bitcoin holder would receive equivalent eCash tokens for free at the time of the split. The most controversial part is the proposed reassignment of Satoshi Nakamoto's coins. Bitcoin's missing founder holds roughly 1.1 million BTC in dormant wallets. Critics argue the move challenges core principles of Bitcoin ownership. Sztorc has been pushing to overhaul Bitcoin since 2015. The broader community has resisted him at every turn.

$1M Bitcoin in 2027 Everyone thinks Michael Saylor and ETFs get us there. I think it’s Paul Sztorc and the eCash.com $BTC hard fork. I sat with Paul Sztorc who made me realise eCash could be one of the most important forks in bitcoins history, stimulating our greatest bullrun ever. The tldr is in August if you hold bitcoin you get the equivalent in eCash. Now eCash on its own merit is already interesting. It’s led by Paul Sztorc who has spent years campaigning to improve bitcoins mechanical utility. He’s a certified legit Bitcoin OG who wants to add functional layers on-top of Bitcoin to enable Bitcoin to be the rails for the broader world of commerce. He plans to achieve this with side chains that are sort of like L2s on Bitcoin. Imagine if Bitcoin had smart contracts and $btc was the currency for all apps in the world. 🤔so technically it’s already very compelling. You will get that for free just by owning Bitcoin. But that’s not all. Paul has figured out a way to finance new forks. I believe this will trigger a new season of fork innovations. Basically fork wars 2.0 only this time it’s based around experimentation and innovation instead of outright kill Bitcoin. Institutions have been all the craze recently but they have never been the source of crypto's biggest expansions. The people who built this industry were. The Cryptographers, the hackers, the builders and the cypherpunks. Everyone is focusing on Strategy selling Bitcoin, meanwhile the upcoming eCash hard fork from Paul Sztorc is being wildly underestimated. Technically, the idea of improving bitcoins mechanical utility is appealing but the event itself is also financially dramatic inducing a huge wealth effect for a whole new generation of Bitcoin holders and it may remind the market who actually drives innovation in this industry. Every major crypto boom began when a small group of weird, intelligent, highly-convicted people challenged the status quo and built something new. And while everyone thinks the next bull market comes from Wall Street, I think much more poetically it comes from the same place every other one did: The real Bitcoiners. Probably the first of a kind... a Substrate node executing a Plutus script to validate an UTxO transaction. This is a project by TxPipe called Griffin, a Substrate-based framework for building app-chains using the eUTxO model and the Plutus language. Cardano devs can use it to build partnerchains that leverage their exiting expertise around UTxO programmability.

All this is on-chain on Bitcoin, and as immutable and secure as Bitcoin itself. The weather in the world reacts to Bitcoin fees, clouds are linked to transaction volume, and time in the world is determined by block height. Makes sense for a Bitcoin world. Real-time multiplayer interactions is one of the newest features. This is particularly difficult to do because Bitcoin block times are ~10 minutes. Bitcoin has been around for 17 years, and we're now seeing fascinating new things being built on top of it.

Dan Robinson of Paradigm published the proposal for a system that lets holders of old Bitcoin wallets prove ownership without moving their coins first. The plan lets Bitcoin holders privately timestamp cryptographic proofs of key ownership today. Later, they can use quantum-resistant STARK proofs to unlock their coins if the network freezes vulnerable addresses. The proposal is designed to protect dormant wallets, including Satoshi Nakamoto's holdings. Owners would not need to move funds publicly in the meantime. The proposal is a direct counterpoint to BIP-361. Developer Jameson Lopp put that proposal forward in mid-April. It would freeze quantum-vulnerable addresses on a five-year deadline.
