New CBA. Same Problem: NHL rookies will continue to get paid peanuts compared to other leagues. Jeff Marek | Daily Faceoff Presented by FanDuel Canada #TheSheet #NHL

@JeffMarek @DailyFaceoff @FanDuelCanada The entry level contract in the NHL is correct. They don't get much money because they haven't proven they're elite NHLers yet. Why do the NFL, NBA, & MLB hand out far too much money to players simply because they've been drafted high? Those guys haven't proven anything in pro.

@JeffMarek @DailyFaceoff @FanDuelCanada Pay more money than 99% of people will ever make in their life and give that to a 18 year ild kid who hasnt played a single game in his league. Thats what I personally always thought was bad about the other sports. Besides, the cap is 2-3 times less than all other major sports.

@JeffMarek @DailyFaceoff @FanDuelCanada Why is this a problem?

@JeffMarek @DailyFaceoff @FanDuelCanada The superstars get paid peanuts compared to other leagues. I hope the leagues’ success continues, but you can only get more if you bring in more.

@JeffMarek @DailyFaceoff @FanDuelCanada It should be a % of the salary cap… cap goes up, kids get a higher salary

@JeffMarek @DailyFaceoff @FanDuelCanada Go get NIL Skip junior altogether…Skip the draft FA right out of college with a cool million in the bank

@JeffMarek @DailyFaceoff @FanDuelCanada I'll take the nhl peanuts salary for myself . Then I could retire in 3 years but bc im a nobody ill be working til I cant anymore. I wish all leagues would require the players to have a full time job

@JeffMarek @DailyFaceoff @FanDuelCanada you can get paid the same to play in college?

@JeffMarek I do think the entry-level salary is a problem but I cannot agree with your stance. League minimum salary has increased by $300,000 since 2012. Yet somehow the EL max salary has only increased $50,000 (which only happened last year!). These should increase at the same rate.
