To go back to human evolution, we have a survival instinct that constantly pushes. We push out of the cave, we push across the ocean, we push to the moon. Everything is pushing to the next horizon in order to survive. What happens in a society where you really don't have to push that hard or at all to survive anymore? What happens when you come to a society where everything is provided for you? The brain, which has developed to push for its survival over hundreds of thousands of years isn't gonna shut that mechanism off. That's its nature. So now the brain doesn't have anything external to push against. It looks around and says, "Well, it must be us." It starts to push internally against the substructure, the architecture that has provided all of these things. "Maybe we're the bad ones because everyone around is suffering, and we have too much." That's the sort of impetus that you see on a lot of these college campuses that precipitates and I think feeds the value system of weakness.

You can use an existing word but make a new application of it (Apple). Or you can invent a new word.” As he explains, there are pros and cons to each approach: 1. Use a literal word “The easy way is if you're building a travel site to call it hotels. com…Every category has a literal word dot-com. The advantages to that are it's easy to explain to people what you do. And the disadvantages to that are you don't own any brand equity,” 2. Take a known word and give it a new meaning ”Apple Computer. Amazon. That’s viable, but you have to build a new definition for that word, which those companies obviously did successfully.” 3. Make up a new word “The hard way, and the best way is to make up a word, which is super hard because you have to tell people what the word means,” “You have to define it for them. So in the advanced technology fab, we will have all of the equipment necessary to make a chip of any kind logical memory, and we will also have all of the equipment necessary to make the masks. So in a single building, we can create a mask, make the chip, test the chip, make another mask, and have an incredibly fast recursive loop for improving the chip design. To the best of my knowledge, this doesn't exist anywhere in the world. We're really going to push the limit of physics in compute, and we're going to try a bunch of wild and crazy things, which you can do if you've got that fast iteration loop that I can't emphasize enough the importance of being able to make it, to test it and and then make and then change the design, do another one, and have that in a single building."

American schools requiring you submit the deed to your house and get it notarized and returned to them in order to register your kids for school “I started registering my son for kindergarten and it is insane. I need to know if anybody else's town requires; Deed to our home, driver's license, property tax bill, a closing disclosure, a current monthly mortgage statement, and utility bills. Okay, fine, fine. Proof that you live in the town. Fine. I'm okay with that. I'm okay with it. But what else do you need to do: You need to take those documents and you need to get them notarized. So I take my documents, I go and I get it notarized. There's about a 20 page packet that you need to fill out. Okay, fine. Fill that out, hard copy, you print it at home. All 20 pages. You fill it all out, you call the office of the school and you say, hey, I have my paperwork done. Oh, no, no, no, no. You need to do step two. I'm sorry, what? What is step two? It's the online application. Oh, what? Yes. You need to take the hard copy of the 20 pages that you just filled out, plus the notarized form of all that documentation, and you need to upload all of that online and then fill out another online form. Why? Is it absurd? Is it.”
