Crypto exchanges are no longer competing only in crypto. CoinGecko's latest research shows how CEXs are rapidly expanding into stocks commodities precious metals indices and forex creating a new era of multi asset trading. One trend that stood out to me was the shift from precious metals leading early 2026 to US stocks becoming the largest TradFi category by June. It shows how quickly trader demand is evolving. MEXC also achieved the number one position in precious metals trading volume during April and May highlighting how exchanges are building strengths in different TradFi segments rather than following the same strategy. He says commercial property, crypto and residential property declines are reducing liquidity, which can pressure markets in the short term. In his view, precious metals remain one of the safer assets to hold because governments will “spend money like water,” deficits will rise, and more money printing is only a question of time.
