The city will host the all‑Ireland Fleadh for the first time this summer, with over 800,000 visitors expected to attend gigs, competitions and workshops from Sunday 2 to Sunday 9 August.

Crowds spilled out into the streets to watch screens airing her speech, to which she said it was ‘very special’ the event was being held in the city. Roadblocks, checkpoints and trouble has been replaced with song, dance and kindness. Music, dance, craic, friendship & respect, really are the ingredients to keep building this place over the years and decades ahead. It's been incredible to watch all of this play out, & serious kudos to everyone who made this happen #Fleadh #Belfast
