Nate Burleson on former #Buckeyes and #Browns star Terrelle Pryor: "I told him earlier, 'You are one of the best all-around athletes to ever play in the NFL.' I know in a lot of people's eyes his career didn't have the same type of depth that maybe he wanted or his fans wanted. But from the perspective of his peers, we respected the hell out of him." In 3 seasons at Ohio State, Pryor had 6,177 yards and 57 TDs with another 2,188 rushing yards and 19 TDs on the ground. He also caught 2 TD passes. I remember watching him in person at Ohio Stadium. He was so far and away better than anyone else on that field. Not many quarterbacks who transition to wide receiver 3 years into their NFL career have much success doing so. But when he came to Cleveland, Terrelle Pryor kicked ass. In 2016, Pryor caught 77 passes on 140 targets for 1,007 yards and 4 TDs. He also rushed for a TD. He had 818 air yards, seventh-most in the NFL that year. Other than Josh Gordon in 2013, Pryor's 1,007 yards were the most by a Browns wideout since Braylon Edwards in 2007. Pryor's accomplishments go back to his high school days when he became the first player in Pennsylvania history to pass for 4,000 yards and rush for 4,000 yards. He led his team to a state-record 860 points scored in 2007. Congrats to Terrelle Pryor SR on being inducted into the National High School Football Hall of Fame. #DawgPound x NHSFootballHOF x Nathaniel E Burleson

NM Highlands completed the New Mexico sweep, winning a 69-55 shoot out over Western NM last night (9/6/25), behind Jeffery Jones’ record breaking performance. True Freshman RB Jeffery Jones broke the D2 freshman single game rushing yards record of 380 yards, which was set Tiffin’s Garrion Corbin on 11/6/02. 🏈Last night, Jones ran for 385 on just 22 carries (20 less carries than Corbin’s 44) and scored 4 TDs, setting the new freshman single game rushing yards record. With a total of 608 rushing yards in his first 2 games, the freshman season rushing yards record of 2,064 (set by Joique Bell of Wayne St in 2006) appears obtainable. Jones needs 1,457 yards in the next 9 games (161.9 yards per game) to break that record. Jones wasn’t the only Highlands’ player that had a great game. Highlands was also led to the win by: 🏈 Tevita Valeti, 11 Carries for 138 Yds & 2 TDs; 🏈 Jaden Montalvo, 5 Kickoff Returns for 187 Yds, including returning the opening kickoff 95 Yds to the house; 🏈 Ike Udengwu, 6 Cmps on 12 Atts for 135 Yds & a TD; 🏈 Mike Jones, 3 Recs for 44 Yds; 🏈 Awsten Turnbow, 11 Tackles (9 Solo & 2 Ast); & 🏈 Britt Alexander, 9 for 9 on PATs & 2 for 2 on FGs (25 Yds & 40 Yds). NM Highlands will be looking for another strong performance from Jones and Valeti when they start conference play by hosting SD Mines next Saturday. Here are a few of NM Highlands’ highlights from last night’s win, including an amazing catch out of the backfield by Jones: #RMAC #RMACfb #TheNewHighlands #CowboyTough #ThisIsHighlands

In 2025, the Western States 100 is going to be a track meet. I think that in 5-10 years, almost every major ultra is going to be a track meet. Our big theory is that as ultrarunners probe the limits of human physiology, athletes will be leaving time on the table if they aren’t developing their true speed. And most athletes can’t leave time on the table as the margins get more and more narrow. That theory doesn’t mean you need to be ready for a track race—I would get my doors blown off at the Olympic Trials. It just means that every aspect of running economy has a relation to top speed. Mile speed is connected to 5k speed is connected to 100-mile speed is connected to multi-day speed. We all have our limiters, and pushing back the speed limit via strides and workouts causes immediate and sustained improvement even at very low effort levels. The same principles apply to athletes doing their first ultra or dreaming of staying ahead of cutoffs (it might even apply more). Plus, it’s fun. The amazing Cody Bare filmed my workout yesterday for The Feed (for an upcoming video series), and this is the finish of the final 3 minute interval. The session: 4 miles Z2 warm-up 6 x (3 min on/1 min easy/1 min on/1 min easy) GI training consisting of 32 oz fluid at once 2.5 miles Z2/Z3 steady running after workout At the end of the video, I go to my arms, inspired by track/trail runners like Allie Ostrander and Anna Gibson and Grayson Murphy (hitting 3:50 min/mile pace). As I said at the end with my hands on my knees: “fun.” It’s so exciting to see how our understanding of human limits is changing with big fueling, an emphasis on long-term health, and fun training. I am so inspired by everyone out there pushing their own limits, wherever those limits happen to be. I can’t wait to see where all of you go in 2025. Let’s have some fun 🧡 WE LOVE YOU ALL (even more than we love strides)
