"The UN was able to verify 31 cases of rape and sexual violence primarily in detention settings, but also at checkpoints and during military operations against 14 men, seven women, nine boys, and one girl from the Gaza Strip and the WestBank. After interviewing witnesses, first responders, medics, and reviewing available forensic material, they said there are “reasonable grounds to believe” that rape and gang rape occurred in several locations, especially around the Nova festival and along Road 232. That is the UN’s official standard for confirming that incidents of sexual violence took place. The UN Human Rights Council’s Commission of Inquiry also reviewed the evidence. Very proud today to present my Ten Minute Rule Bill: Interpersonal abuse and violence against men and boys (strategy). This strategy is desperately needed as male survivors of domestic abuse, rape, sexual assault, digital image abuse, honour-based violence and forced marriage are currently an afterthought, incredibly, included within the Violence Against Women and Girls strategy. We urgently need a dedicated strategy for men and boys, and in lieu of a new position statement from the Government, legislates for Jess Phillips to ensure that alongside the forthcoming new Violence Against Women and Girls strategy a separate strategy for men and boys is finally introduced.
