Some things to ask it: "What have I read about [topic] and what were the most interesting takes?" "I remember saving a PDF about [idea]. Find it for me." "What does [author] argue across the essays I've saved?" "Summarize everything I read this week."

There are ton more suggested prompts and an entire Skills system built in, allowing you to easily reuse workflows you like. Starter skills include: Research a topic, Digest my reading, Triage my inbox, Find similar documents... and of course you can write your own too!

And of course, no setup needed. Every word of every document you've saved is instantly indexed and available for Ghostreader to search/organize. Just start asking, and let us know how it works for you!

Start up time on new browser sessions for the feed loading is long. Maybe a setting to purge feed storage after a designated time period?

Definitely! You can bulk delete yourself now, but we are strongly considering feed auto-pruning for users to keep the performance fast.

just wanted a proof of concept, but im already running into issues with continuity. seems to really want to start over after a few answers and ask how to help instead of just maintaining the the expected answer pattern that was prompted at the beginning of the thread.

When you say "entire library", does that include the items that have been archived as well? I assume it does, but wanted to check (apologies if it's a bone headed question). Thanks.

I guess that'll teach me to regularly delete the archives to keep the documents size down... 🤬😂

It can effortlessly handle thousands.. if you get to hundreds of thousands of documents we recommend starting to look at deletion :)

Thanks, how should one think about readwise chat (books, pods included) vs ghostreader?

Reader's profile picture
Reader10 days ago

The Chat feature in Readwise is just for your saved highlights. Ghostreader can search the full text of the full documents in your Reader account! (it can also access Readwise highlights too if asked)

thank you, I was referring to my book highlights not being included in the Ghostreader context window?

Reader's profile picture

If you ask Ghostreader to search your readwise highlights, it can search them!

What models do you use? Can we add Open AI keys to use gpt? Will you support others and cheaper models ( maybe openrouter )?

Reader's profile picture
Reader10 days ago

By default Ghostreader uses our built-in Fast/Thinking models, included in your subscription! These are quite smart and optimized to give VERY FAST answers. However, yes, you can add your own OpenAI API key to use any OpenAI model you like :) (at

Nice thanks! Will you add the ability to delete documents too? I want to tidy up, but I don't want to archive ( I only archive what I want to keep ).

Reader's profile picture
Reader10 days ago

Very reasonable question! We've been a bit reticent here (supporting delete) to avoid the worst case (an agent deleting your documents in a way you don't want), but we will see if we can make it as safe as possible.

To be honest the agent has a good solution:

It's in the web app, so if you use on your iPad it will work great! We're planning to integrate the global chat in the native iOS/android apps soon.

When will you be able to properly handle saving articles from paid media subscriptions like FT, NYT, etc?

Reader's profile picture
Reader9 days ago

If you save a paywalled from any of these sites (FT, NYT, etc) using our browser extension on desktop, or from iOS safari, you'll get the full article! This already works fully and properly :) Unfortunately if you save from a native news app or Android, the operating system only gives us the url, so we have no way of accessing that underlying content!

The exact-passage references are probably the most important part here. Agentic search becomes much more useful when you can immediately trace an answer back to its source.

This looks fantastic. Am I right to assume it only looks at my Reader library and not my Readwise highlights? The new Ghostreader only shows 18 books but I have 258 books highlighted. i.e. is there any way of combining and ?

Reader's profile picture

Hey George, that's a great question! Ghostreader _can_ actually query all of your data, including your Readwise highlights. Just ask :)

Can I query all books in my Kindle app or just quotes and docs in Readwise?

Reader's profile picture
Reader7 days ago

Unfortunately you cannot query your full Kindle ebook content -- that is a restriction from Kindle and the book publishers and there is no way for us to access that text. Of course, any ePubs you upload to Reader itself will be fully indexed!

exact passage citations across books, PDFs, and videos sound useful; can Ghostreader show enough surrounding context to catch when a clipped quote changes the meaning?

yes!

I loved reader but your shipping speed is just incredibly slow, specially in the AI era. When are you going to merge both apps? Also, the app is incredibly expensive, also for the AI era. I hope you know by now that the price of software trends to zero. It’s a matter of time before someone decides to compete with you on every level with a free app. I think you need to rethink your pricing strategy.

DeepRead.com's profile picture

When it pulls a passage from a book, does the answer carry any sense of where in the book's argument that quote sits, or just the quote itself? We ran into that gap building DeepRead. A book opens as a shape you move through, its own chapter structure intact, so a highlight stays where it happened in the argument. A quote without that context is half the thought.

Works brilliantly, UX feedback @homsiT Gap: Doc-level answers can save as notes, but Global answers have no home, just manual copy action. Fix: Need an "AI Answers" category in the library. Goal: Enable 1-click saving, highlighting, & native Readwise sync to external PKMs.
