Every retailer will eventually have to adopt a membership program like Costco, Sam's Club and others, and customers will have to scan their cards to gain entry.

Wow, can't believe so many people actually just walk the cart out without paying 😵💫

I didn't realize that so many people actually tried to just walk out with a cart full of stuff! Most of these thieves were quick to leave with nothing as soon as their cart stopped. So seems like this tactic is working well!

They could try just arresting ppl instead of letting them get away with it and do nothing?

Trust those who return the shopping cart

A supermarket worker and this grandma have a confrontation every time she comes to shop. 😂

Shoplifters seeing this rn:

The grocery stores near me will lock the wheels if you take a cart, speedrun it in the grocery store, go through checkout and out the door. Timer seems to be less than 5-10 minutes and it will lock your wheels. I was really surprised

As a former 10y retail manager, very little theft is of grocery. Yes, there are some but in my estimation, it's maybe 20% or so. People always steal the things that are worth money AND easy to resale - TVs, games, consoles, alcohol etc. THEN they come get groceries with that money if there's any left over after drugs and alcohol.

Home Depot started this, too, but many years ago, Menards installed an entrance through a gate and exit after cashiers. It helped. My cousin had a small business. We made a cage out of a riot fence. To enter and exit, you need to be buzzed out. The shoplifting went down to zero. Before that, my cousin jumped a shoplifter and bit his ear off. 🤣
