For at least the last 5 years, every time I've tried to use it, it involved scamners trying to rip me off. FB marketplace has been much, much better, and I'm guessing that the amount of traffic on Craigslist has fallen dramatically.

My son uses FBM all the time. When I tried, I got hit immediately by scammers from 3rd world countries. They were all running the same scheme, almost if they all sat in the same boilerroom and shared strategies.

Wasn’t it forced to shutdown for a while at one point? And came back without the “dating” section. I always thought the negative publicity and that shutdown were the big killers. I deal with so many fake accounts and scammers on FBM these days I’d rather go back to CL or something like it. FB seems to have little incentive to shutdown fake accounts… I report them and they do nothing. CL has no false sense of safety… and I’d rather drink from the hose.

OMG Michael. I was posting an old bed frame on Marketplace yesterday and thought about this!! This looks like a killer breakdown. Craigslist is the ultimate case study in the danger of a business plateau. Unconventional principles are fantastic for getting out of the gate and bucking the trend, but if you don't adapt when the market moves around you, those same principles become an anchor.
