i used to be in travel tech. I would change this. It's never about distance, it's about travel time. Distance means nothing unless you are planning to walk everywhere and even then sometimes walking from the hotel to where you want to do is impossible or too dangerous. Just a point. Hope it helps.

@shmichael_eth Google actually confirmed this — since April 2026 they show a banner on German listings: "Over 250 reviews removed due to defamation complaints" on some profiles.

@shmichael_eth You still need to fix Statistics make no sense here. Mathematically impossible to have greater than 99% drop in any category. Makes one doubt if any of these numbers are real

@shmichael_eth Nice, but sorting doesn't fix the real problem: half these "near me" hotels are still a 20 min drive away. Distance to a pin is honest. Google Maps could learn from this.

@shmichael_eth Is that walking time or straight-line distance? A hotel can be 300 metres away and still be a 20-minute walk if there's a river or highway in between.
