NACHO RESTORATION OF DICK CLARK SPACE ODDITY “And the papers want to know whose shirts you wear...” Today sees the anniversary of the release of the Alabama Song/Space Oddity 45 on 15th February 1980. Space Oddity had been recorded in a 3-song session in London with Tony Visconti, specifically for the Will Kenny Everett Make It To 1980? Show, which was broadcast on 31st December 1979 in the UK. A few days later, on 4th January 1980, Bowie’s appearance on the Sensational Shocking Wonderful Wacky 70's was broadcast on NBC in the US. Produced and presented by Dick Clark, the show featured our man miming to the original 1969 US single edit of Space Oddity. Wearing a Willy Brown designed blue/green jump suit, with a hand-drawn graphic pattern inspired by Le Corbusier, Bowie accessorized with 3 flying saucer shaped pin buttons. The overall effect was future nostalgia. Bowie gave a straight-faced delivery straight to camera to stunning effect, with slicked back hair and looking icy cool throughout. An on-set image shot by Steve Schapiro was used for the Alabama Song/Space Oddity 45 foldout sleeve. I know a lot of you have been enjoying the food content, but I want to be straight with you about something. After my competition, I didn’t just “treat myself.” I went into a full post show binge spiral which is pretty common after a first show, but still brutal to go through. It wasn’t just this one fun meal. It turned into days of overeating, chasing dopamine from food, and completely losing control. Over the next few posts, you’ll see exactly what I ate after this… what I tried to do to stop the spiral… and where I ended up because of it. I want to show you the REALITY of competing.. Both mentally and physically.. And how fast your body can change in such a short amount of time. This was my first season of shows, and I had to learn this lesson the hard way. Raigad Zilla Parishad Primary School, Vahal in Panvel today. There is nothing quite like the energy of the first day of school, that distinct smell of crisp new books, the chaotic joy of reuniting with friends after the summer break and the flutter of excitement walking into a brand-new classroom. Those are the moments that stick with us for life. Stepping into school today for the new academic session, I was completely blown away by the sheer energy of our students. They aren’t just kids in classrooms, they are the future architects of our nation. Seeing their bright smiles, boundless curiosity and effortless confidence made one thing abundantly clear- Maharashtra’s tomorrow is in incredibly capable hands. One of the absolute highlights of today's Praveshotsav was chatting with a brilliant little girl. Her sharp, curious mind and thoughtful questions totally stole the show and left a lasting impression on me. It was also a proud reminder that our Zilla Parishad schools are doing a phenomenal job of imparting not just knowledge, but deep-rooted values and a sense of responsibility.
