The downside of new teams building a system from foundations I like is watching more snaps to start the week, but beggars can’t be choosers and I can’t complain about that. I’ve been a Rob Leonard fan as a position coach and I think he’ll do well for himself as a DC. The Raiders probably call this Pack (QQH), and they zone off this Snug/Stack formation really well with what Minter calls “Buddy” (true 1/4’s). Nice Quarter Flat drop from #3 to let the ball bring him back down rather than the route.

Darius Robinson was pretty much a non-factor, not only in the preseason game but also throughout the first two seasons of his #Cardinals career. There were a few snaps where the Raiders had WRs assigned to block D-Rob, and they had no issues doing so. On the Raiders’ big run, D-Rob was put on his ass by 2025 3rd-round pick Charles Grant out of William & Mary, who is a backup tackle for the Raiders. If he wasn’t drafted #27 overall, he probably would’ve been cut based on the body of work he has put on tape. This is a make-or-break year for D-Rob. He was a 5-year college player who broke out in his final season after moving from the interior to the edge. His best reps at the Senior Bowl also came on the edge. I don’t think it’s going to work inside. I’d like to see him moved back to the edge. With the current edge rotation, is there really any downside to trying it? I think it is safe to say that Jackson Powers-Johnson is already the #Raiders best Offensive Linemen. Watching his tape, he had as Elite of a game I have seen from any other Center this year. Just the way he processes information and moves people at the POA is impressive.

"Pick" pressures are a large part of how the Ravens' system coaches attack protections. The Raiders illustrated a Guard pick against the Dolphins. Quay Walker (7) will blitz to the hip of Miami's LG while Kwity Paye (95) works to his face. The RB is responsible for Walker, who will attempt to get a 2-for-1 by bringing the back with him. Walker knocks the LG off, and the RB isn't prepared to pick up Paye; a classic example of how these pressures work. Brady Cook is showing some absurdly good stuff on tape from a guy in his situation (UDFA, near-afterthought at OTAs), to the point that it has to be forcing the New York Jets to consider him for the 53. *****Anticipation and leverage, the nuances of playing *on time* while delivering the ball in the *right spot*. Great job by Skinner on this one as well, as his route-running wherewithal/feel is noticeable on tape.

Peterson had 38 assists and 38 turnovers in college, which is not the line you expect from a potential franchise lead guard. Part of it was his off-ball usage. Part of it was a Kansas roster that didn't shoot well. But DP averaged 5.3 assists as a senior at Prolific Prep, and had the ball in his hands the majority of the time. He delivered bounce passes into the paint, whipped cross-court skip passes, and looked the part of a point guard with far more explosiveness off the dribble.
