I fixed the most upvoted React Aria issue of all time: in the next release, you can enter "invalid" dates like February 31st, and they'll be constrained on blur instead of as you type. This is helpful for transient states, e.g. editing the day before the month. It also enabled entering other temporary values like leading zeros. As you can see in the video, previously if the month was February you couldn't change the day to anything above 28. You'd first have to change the month and then go back to the day. Now the temporary invalid state is allowed. This might seem like such a simple issue, but it was actually pretty complicated to fix. It required entirely changing the way the state is stored. JS Date and Intl.DateTimeFormat cannot store or format dates that don't exist, so we had to reimplement it from scratch. Now we use Intl.DateTimeFormat to get the order of the fields for each locale, but format the value of each segment individually with Intl.NumberFormat. Lots of edge cases to handle as well, like daylight saving time, 12/24 hour time, different calendar and numbering systems, etc. Really glad to finally fix this one though!

A CHINESE GUY STOPPED PAYING WEB DESIGNERS $1,800 PER LANDING PAGE AND BUILT THE SAME KIND OF SITE WITH CLAUDE CODE IN ONE AFTERNOON FOR LESS THAN $70 claude was not just writing code. it was doing the job of a designer, copywriter and frontend dev in one window. in 4 hours, one rough idea turned into the layout, color system, font choices, page sections and the full html/css/js build the real trick was the references. he gave claude 5 screenshots, made it ask 7 questions first, then pushed it toward one clear visual direction instead of accepting another generic ai-looking template the first version already looked solid. the second pass made it feel expensive: better typography, a darker palette, mobile cleanup, cursor effects, 6 micro-interactions and custom hero visuals his old workflow was burning $1,200 on design, $500 on frontend work and another $150 on small fixes every time he needed a new page. now the whole test costs less than $70 and the site still looks like something a $5,000 agency would ship the edge is not “ai builds websites.” the edge is that one person can now brief, critique, polish and launch in one afternoon without waiting 10 days for a designer to send version one

If you’ve ever managed custom icons in React Native, you know the frustration of choosing between performance and developer experience. Libraries like 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗰𝘁-𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲-𝘀𝘃𝗴 are flexible but heavy. Every icon creates its own React subtree. The alternative? Manual icon fonts that force you into a constant back-and-forth of using web tools like IcoMoon and syncing font assets every time a design changes. I learned this the hard way: do NOT use SwiftUI if you want your app to look and feel amazing. At least when coding with AI. (sorry, Apple colleagues reading this 😅) I'm sharing my process vibe coding this calorie tracker. I get a lot of questions about the fluid transition in the video. Here's the whole story. Initially, Claude built the grid with SwiftUI. It was quick and easy, and looked good! But the transition to the day view was a boring navigation push/pop. No fun. I wanted something custom. I asked Claude to make it a fluid transition that remaps the food tiles from their source to destination positions. All hell broke loose. Claude tried a bunch of horrible things. Initially it used matched geometry effects, which worked OK but didn't lend themselves well to gesture-driven animations. So it resorted to SwiftUI preference keys + geometry readers to figure out the source and destination positions and calculate the interpolated position based on gesture progress, coordinating across grid and day views. But this meant it had to write a custom layout because it couldn't reposition tiles inside the native SwiftUI grid. And it had to do an awkward handoff between views, which always created ugly pops or jumps. And don't get me started on trying to put it on a bouncy spring, that only made the math 10x buggier. Fortunately, Claude Fable was smart enough to see that this was becoming a disaster (and discover most of the issues itself, in the simulator), so it pivoted away from SwiftUI. Opus might not be so wise, so you'll have to pay attention and intervene. Ultimately, it rewrote it in plain UIKit and everything turned out great. After that, we moved from 2D images to 3D assets, which introduced a new set of performance challenges and yet another rewrite to a single Metal layer, which is what you see below. I can write more about the 2D-to-3D saga if anyone's interested. If I were to do it again, I'd just say "Don't use SwiftUI" from the very first prompt, and save a few hours of headaches. SwiftUI can be amazing for a human iterating directly in code. But agents don't benefit from any of its advantages. Plus, agents have seen decades of UIKit training data, so they're great at writing it, and it's far more flexible. Here's hoping we see more agent-friendly iterations of SwiftUI in the future. Till then, I'm probably going to avoid it.

Today's recap: - Initial prototype of Divine's face was printed but it had human assistance. - Files are generated from stable diffusion prompt -> NeRF by divine and were based on community sentiment from early sketches she made. - Having divine redesign the 3D file with different Hugging Face models to get better quality. Have not found a great model like our video generator. - Ordered new table for divine's print arm. The table her arm is on is too flimsy. Since Divine's vision system is still clearing customs, if she is not perfectly positioned she can be prone to hit things, like the fume box the printer is in. ETA: 1-2 days for table. 1 week for vision system. - Another part of Divine's coming stream will be attempting to surpass the skills of this AI. - Stacking more content for when the stream goes live, a lot of people were expecting a 24/7 stream, we said this would be a test stream to print the face. The test was a failure. We will try and try again until we are 24/7. If anyone can please try and beat us to doing this, it will help me get it done faster. - TikTok account for divine is growing at 500 follows per day, it is now growing faster than our X account. - Got replies functioning in high quality testing in Discord. Today, Pat and Joey from Out and About stepped up and led Frank into the scary world of fashion with alpha energy. After handling sales stuff in the morning, Frank and I huddled up with the Out & About crew and walked to Burlington. Highlights from the trip: ◦Joey and Frank interactions had me howling ◦Joey & Pat’s vernacular intersecting with Frank’s ◦Frank had full trust in Joey’s choices and fashion taste and it paid off ◦Joey and Pat trying on several dresses while Frank watched with fascination ◦The fashion show back in the office after we shopped, which nearly made gia (taylor’s version) and Kelly Keegs cry from wholesomeness. It was beautiful to see how happy & proud everyone is for Frank. The Out & About team has the golden footage and will release it all soon. Thanks, Diego. We worked walk 105 into the shopping trip both before and after our visit to the store. Frank has averaged 12,500 steps per day for the last week or so. His stamina improvement is extraordinary, especially considering our schedule.
