Analyzing Episode 35. Season 2 aka Turning the Tables Alrighty, let's do this. Episode 35 was one of the strongest episodes of season 2, I think, because we get to see Ciho and Alya kind of switch places, for once. In s1, Alya would mostly pick flight when her feelings got overwhelming. Whereas Ciho, with his Ağa mindset, would inevitably choose to fight. But, unlike in s1, the circumstances are unique. We see the tables turn because Alya probably hasn't loved anyone before like she loves Cihan, and Cihan hasn't ever come across a test as heavy as the half-alive Boran. So, essentially, they're both out of their comfort zones. Let's discuss Alya first. My love for this character just keeps growing. I've yet to see someone be as principled and willing to break the rules, as strong and soft at the same time, as Alya Albora. The woman is a marvel. She's doing everything she can to keep him from monitoring her movements (like he generally does :D). She's learned to read her husband, so much so that she turns his tactics on him. And Cihan never picks up on it. And watching her in action is poetry in motion - beautiful and heartbreaking at the same time. Because this time, the one person she can always count on for support isn't with her. She's fighting for Cihan, for their love, all on her own. Even though they promise each other they'd face whatever obstacles come their way together as they leave the airport in ep 29. While everyone gathers to wish Cihan well before the operation, Alya walks through those corridors alone. She has no one to calm her fears, no one to soothe her brow. No one tells her they'll be praying for her quick recovery. And that hurts like a son of a bitch. Because Alya has such a capacity for love and giving, she doesn't hesitate to take huge risks for the people she loves. On the other hand, she has no one other than Cihan to do the same for her. He's her other half. And there's no way in hell she'd stand back and watch him destroy himself. Her devotion and resolve are crystal clear when she speaks to Cihan while he's sedated. Things are best this way type of stuff. In fact, I want you to remember this phrase. Then, there's surrender - moments of lucidity where you realize you're falling apart, that this isn't what you want at all. You're flooded by emotions and longing about what you're denying yourself. And that's something you see in Cihan over and over in this episode. He keeps fluctuating from one state to the other, and I don't think he even realizes what he's about to do to himself and Alya by wanting to go through with that operation. Take the scene where they're talking in their room before Alya leaves. On the one hand, Cihan tells Alya he has responsibilities to his family, and on the other, he can't see how his decision will affect Alya and Deniz. Then, when Cihan tries talking to Alya when he's driving her to work, he tells her he doesn't want to sacrifice their love, but in the next instance, he tells her he won't lose her 'in his heart' even if Boran wakes up. You see the inconsistency? He keeps switching between what he truly wants and the things might be best this way mindset. Surrender and suppression. Like when he keeps seeking her out at every turn, but insists on undergoing a surgery that will almost certainly kill him. The guilt inside him builds like pressure almost. Analyzing Episode 35. Season 2 aka Turning the Tables Alrighty, let's do this. Episode 35 was one of the strongest episodes of season 2, I think, because we get to see Ciho and Alya kind of switch places, for once. In s1, Alya would mostly pick flight when her feelings got overwhelming. Whereas Ciho, with his Ağa mindset, would inevitably choose to fight. But, unlike in s1, the circumstances are unique. We see the tables turn because Alya probably hasn't loved anyone before like she loves Cihan, and Cihan hasn't ever come across a test as heavy as the half-alive Boran. So, essentially, they're both out of their comfort zones. Let's discuss Alya first. My love for this character just keeps growing. I've yet to see someone be as principled and willing to break the rules, as strong and soft at the same time, as Alya Albora. The woman is a marvel. He's the COVER STORY. He says devolution. Power to the people. It's a SMOKESCREEN. Watch the salesman at the front and you miss the hands working behind him. He didn't dodge the press because he's shy. He dodged them because he CAN'T ANSWER THEM. The Times watched his last interview and called him utterly unconvincing. Then he announced he's rebuilding the whole country and took not one question. Strange sort of saviour, won't take a single question about the miracle. Watch the pitch. The salesman, caught pricing up the goods himself AND IT WAS NEVER SUDDEN Last August, already the most popular man in his party. September, a network quietly forms around him. They call it Mainstream. January, he tries to get into Parliament and the Prime Minister himself votes to BLOCK him. Blocked and it changed nothing. Five months later he walks through a different door like the lock was never there. The one man who could have stood against him folded inside the hour. No contest. It's the wrapping paper. Then he reached for Germany to sound clever. But Germany's regions have their own constitutions, power no centre can rip back. Britain has one Parliament, and it can take back every crumb overnight. Wallpaper over a promise with nothing behind it. Then he walked off and took not one question. THE BIT THAT HITS YOUR FRONT DOOR Forget the sales patter a second. Here's what he's actually selling you. He wants your water. Your energy. Your home. Sold to you as public ownership. So who sets your bill then. Not you. Not anyone you ever voted for. A handful of people you've never heard of, who answer to nobody. Then he wants a tax on what your house is WORTH. Not what you earn. What it's worth just sitting there and because it's tied to house prices, the dearer your area, the harder you're hit. London alone, SEVEN BILLION pounds. Some homes, a THOUSAND pounds a year more. Just for owning the bricks around you. For a roof you already paid for. That lands on top of the heaviest tax burden this country has carried since 1948. Backed Starmer when Starmer rose. Now Reform surges and suddenly he agrees with Farage. Blair, Corbyn, Starmer, Farage. Four men, four directions, and he turned to face every one the moment it started winning. That's not conviction. That's a WEATHER VANE, spinning whichever way the wind pays best. He sold this country compulsory ID cards twenty years ago. Hold that thought next time he plays the man who'll set you free. A month into running our hospitals, patients were dying in their own urine. He opened an inquiry, then bolted the doors on it, and knocked back eighty one pleas to hold it in public. It took losing power for the truth to get out. A grooming gang ran riot on his patch as Mayor. Three jailed out of ninety seven. His response was called supine, and supine is the kind word for it. Behind him sits everything that actually runs the country. Officials who never face an election and never leave. Lobbyists who cycle through every government no matter the colour of the rosette. Think tanks that write the policy before a minister reads it. Burnham's own right hand was paid by Apple, Amazon and BP. Not one of them British. Not one on any ballot you've ever seen. The money behind this doesn't stop at Dover. The Cabinet Secretary who built the borders scheme is one face of it. There are hundreds more you'll never be shown. They were here before Burnham. They'll be here after him. Before Starmer, before the Tories, and long after Reform has had its turn. They don't change the country. They just change the suit. Starmer in his glasses. Think tanks that write the policy before a minister reads it. Burnham's own right hand was paid by Apple, Amazon and BP. Not one of them British. Not one on any ballot you've ever seen. The money behind this doesn't stop at Dover. The Cabinet Secretary who built the borders scheme is one face of it. There are hundreds more you'll never be shown. They were here before Burnham. They'll be here after him. Before Starmer, before the Tories, and long after Reform has had its turn. They don't change the country. They just change the suit. Starmer in his glasses. We've had no load shedding for over six months and everyone's wondering how the problem got fixed "so quickly" when we've been saddled with load shedding for 17 years 🤯 I'll tell you one thing about Mteto Nyati, he's a really nice guy when you meet him but you can feel the fire in his eyes when he talks about our country and Eskom 🔥 A few weeks ago, I attended the launch of Bruce Whitfield' new book called "The One Thing". Bruce decided to use this precious time to interview Mteto. What struck me most was how seriously Mteto took his role of Eskom Chairman. I know that might sound strange but if you consider how long we all had to endure load shedding, and when you look at how SOE's have been run in general, no wonder everyone is so skeptical. That is, until you hear Mteto speak on the topic and more importantly, you feel the intensity with which he speaks. I guess everyone is wanting to better understand the "secret recipe" that has brought load shedding to an unexpected end. Here's how I understood the process: ✅ Mteto and his fellow board members took the role seriously and therefore, it all started with intent. They also took a few weeks to try understand what the problems were from a first principles perspective. ✅ They decided the biggest issue was the problem statement they inherited. They had to change this before doing any work. Vision and strategy before execution. ✅ Mteto and the board went back to basics. They engaged with government on policy that would allow them to work with original equipment manufacturers, they went out of their way to serve Eskom leaders rather than the other way around, and the stuck to their plan despite the noise. There were many other take-aways from the night but the point is, here we are with no load shedding for six months. By every metric, the turn around has been almost miraculous, except it's not. If you EVER want an example of why leadership matters, look no further than the turnaround at Eskom. It genuinely starts at the top and we should protect leaders like Mteto at all costs. PS. My sweetie here is a late bloomer but I have always kept faith that people will see his potential. I liked what this kblogger said that when you see him in TJFH , he feels familiar but yet you might think he's a newcomer. Seems like a rookie but surprised that he's good in acting. If you check his filmography you'd realise he's been acting for more than a decade. JY mentioned that he wasn't sure what to do while in school but he did have a dream of being a chef especially because he helped mum out at home. His father suggested modeling after he was done with military service . He mentioned in an interview he had to shed off 30kg through diet & exercise as he weighed over 100kg .Esteem Academy signed him & he debut as a model in 2010. He got casted in a TVN survival program "Flower Boy Casting". From there, he was inspired to act and landed his 1st supporting role in the movie "No Breathing". (starring SeoInGuk & LeeJongSuk.) If you want to see a young JY in swimwear 😁, you can check him out there. The movie didn't quite make a splash (pun unintended 😁) , and JY who had actually left Esteem to pursue acting, found himself jobless for at least over a year. He auditioned for BladeMan (LeeDongWook & Shin SeKyung's drama) and got casted for a small role. Esteem reached out to him again & he signed with them again to model. He later also joined HB Entertainment for acting jobs, and was with them for a long time. Last year (2023) he left HB and joined his long time manager who had established a new agency, Management S. After Blademan , JY had several supporting roles but his 1st main cast role was in OCN's My Secret Romance. He was the 2nd lead & that was also my first JY drama. While I didn't have SLS, he was such a sweetheart there and caught my attention. My massive crush began when he acted as MooYeon in #100DaysMyPrince as an assassin and the FL's brother. He also had a forbidden love line with the 2ndFL's char played by HanSoHee , and they had great chemie despite limited scenes. I cried my eyes out watching their tragic love story. This is the year (2018) I decided I'll stan this man ☺️😂 His role there opened many doors. He had a short TV series called Dear My Room ( was on the now defunct Olive TV) where he played the romantic ML against Ryoo Hye Young's character. It was one of those friends to lovers trope and I recommend this for a sweet fluffy watch. He also sang the OST with RHY. The big year came in 2019 when he was casted as the ML , Sun Woo in #SecretBoutique, a female centric drama starring KimSunA and GoMinSi . He had a meaty role here as a prosecutor - a bit of a grey character and was somewhat like a brother to the FL (KimSunA) and he had some nice fight scenes. His body was the best here 🔥😋😁. If you don't mind a heavy melodrama, this wasn't bad. And oh boy, was I shipping him hard with GoMinSi's character. I still hope they can reunite for another show & give me closure. 2019-2020 was when I watched a KBS weekender #BeautifulLoveWonderfulLife from start to finish ( raw and with subs - yes my level of dedication surprised me) because JY got casted as Jun Hwi, the ML against another actress I love , Seol In Ah. Gosh, this drama was an emotional roller coaster and was another heavy character. The premise of the story was so sad and the leads went through so much together but I love this show though. He had good chemie with SIA. He also won a KBS acting award here. I recommend this if you can do 50eps and love angst like I do 😂 The role took its toll on JY. He mentioned he needed to take a break but then found himself without work for at least 6-7 months ( if I remember correctly) . Boy, did I miss him. It was really only in an Elle pictorial with his good friend -actor, model and famous youtuber Joo WooJae that I found out he had been having a hard time. He has appeared on WooJae's YT channel several times - they even travel together. JY's come back drama was in #ReflectionOfYou (2021), another heavy melo as the ML who was caught in an emotional tug of war between 2 women played by GoHyunJung and ShinHyunBeen. As WooJae, KJY gave some of his best acting. I know he got a lot of hate 😵‍💫🤣because WooJae was just so obssessed / in love with GHJ's character that he was willing to throw it all for her. This drama is not for the faint hearted but the acting was superb all round - even if the plot would make you uncomfortable. He was so hot here too. JY with longish hair was a dream. In 2022, he was the 2ndML , as KangHaeJin in #LoveInContract. It was so nice to see him play a diva actor and do rom-com for the 1st time. This is a fun watch. While I don't think viewers would have SLS, JY's character wasn't one dimensional either and he had his own storyline despite not being the ML. In 2022 - 2023 he voiced an audio drama , "For Sale - I Broke Up" with Yoon So Hee - but I don't know how we can listen to it internationally (though I do have some vids I would post one day). He also filmed a drama called "We Will Replace The Trip" with Gong SeungYeon, but so far no news of it airing yet. JaeYoung here is shy and unassuming. He's MBTI is INFP. You can see from his interviews he's quite easygoing and humorous. On my highlights- I have subbed some of his videos for TJFH. JY says he still dreams of being a chef and has gone to a 6-month cooking course last year. He also hopes to be able to take on warmer roles going forward.

This drama is not for the faint hearted but the acting was superb all round - even if the plot would make you uncomfortable. He was so hot here too. JY with longish hair was a dream. In 2022, he was the 2ndML , as KangHaeJin in #LoveInContract. It was so nice to see him play a diva actor and do rom-com for the 1st time. This is a fun watch. While I don't think viewers would have SLS, JY's character wasn't one dimensional either and he had his own storyline despite not being the ML. In 2022 - 2023 he voiced an audio drama , "For Sale - I Broke Up" with Yoon So Hee - but I don't know how we can listen to it internationally (though I do have some vids I would post one day). He also filmed a drama called "We Will Replace The Trip" with Gong SeungYeon, but so far no news of it airing yet. JaeYoung here is shy and unassuming. He's MBTI is INFP. You can see from his interviews he's quite easygoing and humorous. On my highlights- I have subbed some of his videos for TJFH. JY says he still dreams of being a chef and has gone to a 6-month cooking course last year. He also hopes to be able to take on warmer roles going forward.
